Trafi (an Enghouse Company) offers a scalable and comprehensive MaaS (Mobility as a Service) platform designed to integrate complex transport networks into a single, user-centric application. The company’s white-label product enables cities and public transport authorities to connect various mobility options. These include public transport, car rental, taxi and micromobility (bicycles, scooters, etc.), integrated into a unified, truly multi-modal journey planning platform. Trafi’s solutions are trusted by major cities such as Berlin (Jelbi), Brussels (Floya), and Nottingham & Derby (Ride).

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Journey Planning team, you'll work on one of the most technically challenging parts of our platform: calculating optimal journeys across complex transportation networks in real time. Every route request requires combining and reasoning over large-scale datasets, including public transit schedules, real-time vehicle positions, road networks, shared mobility services, and geospatial information.

You'll design and implement the algorithms and systems that determine how users get from point A to point B efficiently and reliably. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy deep technical challenges, algorithmic thinking, and performance-critical systems, spanning graph traversal, route optimization, real-time search, distributed data processing, and translating research or industry approaches into production-grade solutions.

This is a Hybrid role based in our Vilnius office, offering the flexibility to work from home or the office according to your preference. In this position, you will report to the Team Lead, Software Engineer.

Responsibilities:

• Ownership of system design, implementation and support
• Write high-quality C# code on the latest .NET stack
• Run .NET on Linux in container cluster (docker)
• Use Infrastructure as a Code to manage cloud infrastructure (terraform.io)
• Design distributed (micro)service architecture which processes data in real time
• Work extensively with Amazon Web Services infrastructure (we use 30+ AWS services)
• Mentoring less experienced colleagues
• Instrument and monitor code

Qualification and Experience:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including strong experience with C# and API development
• Proven experience designing fault-tolerant, production-ready, and cost-efficient systems in cloud environments
• Strong foundations in algorithms, data structures, and problem-solving
• Ability to reason about trade-offs between performance, scalability, accuracy, and operational cost.
• Experience working on performance-critical systems, distributed systems, real-time processing, or large-scale data pipelines is highly valued
• Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with evolving objectives and close collaboration across teams
• Curiosity to explore technical research, industry best practices, and non-trivial engineering challenges
• Strong communication skills and professional proficiency in English
  

Salary:

The salary range for this position is 5,500 – 6,666 EUR gross per month (66,000 – 80,000 EUR gross per year).
