Bright Renewables, is looking for an experienced PLC Engineer to strengthen our international automation team.

Your role as a Senior Software Engineer (PLC)

As a Senior Software Engineer (PLC), you play a key role in the design, implementation, and commissioning of PLC/SCADA control systems for gas upgrading, CO2 liquefaction, and other products.. You work closely with Electrical Engineers and fellow Software Engineers and report to the Manager E&I and Software.

You are based in Enschede, collaborating with over 400 colleagues across the organization. From mid-2026, you’ll move to a brand-new, sustainably built office in Hengelo. You will also work closely with colleagues in Poland, where part of our engineering and production activities are located.

Your responsibility

  • Coordinating and advising role in the team regarding software concepts, setup of the software standard, and department processes;

  • Design, program, and commission PLC and SCADA systems for gas upgrading, CO2 liquefaction, and other products

  • Take technical ownership of automation solutions, from design to commissioning;

  • Perform software testing and troubleshooting during commissioning and operation;

  • Analyze and resolve software-related issues in installations;

  • Implement software updates and optimizations in existing installations;

  • Support service engineers with complex software and control-related questions;

  • Actively contribute to improving standards, templates, and automation concepts within the team;

  • Mentor and support junior engineers where needed from design to commissioning.

Requirements

Our requirements

  • A completed technical education (automation, mechatronics, electrical engineering, computer science, or similar);

  • At least 5 years of experience in PLC/SCADA engineering within an industrial environment;

  • Strong experience with PLC programming, preferably Siemens S7 and TIA Portal;

  • Experience with commissioning and troubleshooting in industrial installations;

  • Solid understanding of automation architectures and industrial control systems;

  • Good command of English, both spoken and written;

  • Knowledge of OT security is a strong plus.
