The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer at Nex, you will architect and build the scalable backbone of our global platform powering e‑commerce, subscriptions, user management, device pairing, content delivery, support systems, analytics, and system updates. Your work will serve many millions of connected devices and the operating systems behind them, shaping daily user experiences worldwide. You will partner with business, product, and operation teams, to deliver backend infrastructure that is simple, robust, observable, and reliable at scale.

The Mindset

You care deeply about elegant, scalable systems. You thrive in fast‑paced, product‑driven environments and see great backend engineering as the intersection of craft, simplification, and impact. You enjoy solving problems across performance, security, reliability, and maintainability. You are customer‑obsessed and biased for action. You move quickly while staying precise, careful, and risk‑aware.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and operate scalable backend services for e‑commerce, subscriptions, accounts, device activation, content delivery, support, analytics, and system updates.
  • Build services that are reliable, fault‑tolerant, and highly observable, with strong monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • Develop robust APIs and backend logic using contemporary languages and runtimes (primarily Node.js, Python, and Go, selected based on project needs and performance goals).
  • Implement and optimize authentication flows, including OAuth and device authentication.
  • Use cloud and container technology for deployment, scaling, and service management.
  • Architect fault‑tolerant systems using queues, service‑oriented patterns, and message‑driven workflows.
  • Guide and collaborate with a mission‑aligned external engineering team.
  • Work closely with business, product, and operations to deliver customer‑obsessed solutions.

Must Have

  • 5+ years building backend services for high‑traffic products.
  • Proven experience running highly observable services in production using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with distributed systems, big data workflows, and database optimization across NoSQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Deep understanding of data consistency principles, safe operation design, and concurrency control.
  • Passion for deep technical challenges and raising the engineering bar.
  • Ability to lead troubleshooting and postmortems during production incidents.
  • Ability to work effectively with global teams across time zones.
  • Proficiency in English communication.

Nice To Have

  • Experience with authentication patterns including OAuth and device flows.
  • Experience building fault‑tolerant systems using queues and service‑based or microservices architectures.
  • Expertise with real‑time data streams and messaging tools such as Apache Kafka, SQS, or Pub/Sub.
  • Familiarity with Firebase and Supabase.
  • Knowledge of privacy, compliance, and information security best practices.
  • Experience in startups, high‑growth environments, or consumer product companies.

We Offer

  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Flexible working hours and vacation policy.
  • Product-driven culture that treasures talents and individual growth.
  • Front-row seat and hands-on experience with cutting edge technologies in the evolving gaming field
