This role is four days onsite at our Buffalo, NY location, with the flexibility to work from home one day per week

Overview:

Responsible at the advanced level for designing, developing, testing, and supporting technology solutions for Liquidity financial reporting, including FR 2052a and Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR). Independently leads technical requirements analysis, writes reliable and resilient code, and partners with business and technology stakeholders to deliver accurate, timely, controlled, and scalable regulatory and management reporting solutions in accordance with banking technology standards and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Primary Responsibilities:

• Independently design, develop, test, implement, and support complex technology solutions for Liquidity financial reporting within the approved Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Lead the translation of Liquidity business, regulatory, data, and control requirements into scalable technical designs, development plans, and well-defined implementation tasks in partnership with report owners, Treasury, engineering, data, and other stakeholders.
• Author organized, clean, efficient, secure, and resilient source code at an advanced level in at least one relevant programming or scripting language, applying appropriate data structures, design patterns, and engineering standards.
• Design and support data ingestion, transformation, reconciliation, and reporting processes using Snowflake, SQL, and related data technologies to help ensure complete, accurate, timely, and traceable Liquidity reporting.
• Provide advanced technical ownership for Automic workflows and batch schedules, including job dependencies, monitoring, alerting, restart and recovery procedures, performance, and timely delivery of data and reports.
• Design and support integrations among source systems, data staging and warehouse platforms, calculation or reporting applications, secure file-transfer services, and downstream reporting processes.
• Lead unit, integration, regression, performance, and production validation testing; investigate complex data-quality issues, failed jobs, reporting variances, and performance concerns; and drive root-cause analysis and sustainable remediation.
• Design, implement, and maintain automated controls, reconciliations, audit evidence, operational procedures, and data lineage supporting Liquidity reporting and regulatory expectations.
• Utilize source control, deployment, change-management, and CI/CD tools to organize and maintain code, promote changes across environments, resolve merge conflicts, and improve release reliability.
• Regularly lead pull requests and code reviews, providing constructive direction on code quality, security, performance, maintainability, scalability, and resiliency while mentoring less experienced engineers.
• Contribute to application architecture and technical strategy discussions, identify opportunities to simplify or modernize solutions, and evaluate technical tradeoffs, dependencies, and risks.
• Collaborate with business and technology partners during release planning, implementation, production support, incident response, disaster recovery testing, and continuous improvement activities; provide technical leadership during complex issues and time-sensitive reporting cycles.
• Create and maintain clear technical designs, data mappings, workflow dependencies, support procedures, implementation details, and knowledge-transfer materials.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Education and Experience Required:

• Associate’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ systems analysis and/ or application development work experience or Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years’ systems analysis and/ or application development work experience. In lieu of degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ education and/or relevant work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ systems analysis and/or application development work experience
• Advanced proficiency in minimum of 1 relevant programming language.

Education and Experience Preferred:

• Experience supporting Liquidity financial or regulatory reporting, including FR 2052a, LCR, NSFR, and/or ILST.
• Advanced knowledge of Liquidity data concepts, regulatory reporting controls, reconciliations, data lineage, and audit-ready documentation.
• Advanced experience with Snowflake, including SQL development, data transformation, query troubleshooting, performance optimization, and scalable data design.
• Experience designing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting Automic or a comparable enterprise workload automation and batch-scheduling platform.
• Strong experience with relational databases, data warehouses, ETL/ELT processes, data integration, and secure file-transfer technologies.
• Experience with source control, CI/CD, release management, monitoring and alerting, incident management, production support, and disaster recovery practices.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills specific to application development, financial data processing, and complex production issues.
• Experience providing technical direction, conducting code and design reviews, mentoring engineers, and influencing application architecture without direct supervisory responsibility.
• Experience working collaboratively with engineering, data, Treasury, Finance, risk, audit, and regulatory reporting teams.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and lead complex projects in a deadline-driven regulatory reporting environment.
• Strong organizational, time-management, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical risks and solutions to business and technology stakeholders.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $97,100.00 - $161,800.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
