Job Description

[What the role is]

The Future of Finance Institute (FFI) is being established as an industry platform that brings together financial institutions, FinTechs, technology firms and research partners to support the adoption of emerging technologies across Singapore's financial sector. FFI's work spans areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital assets and next-generation financial infrastructure. It aims to help industry participants translate technological advances into practical capabilities, strengthen implementation pathways and support the long-term development of Singapore's financial ecosystem.

[What you will be working on]

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) to help build the digital capabilities that support FFI's mission. You will work closely with financial institutions, technology firms and research partners to design and develop platforms, services and tools that support the application of new technologies to real business and operational challenges. Your work will help industry participants develop new capabilities, learn from implementation experience and deploy solutions more effectively.

This is an opportunity to join a newly established organisation, shape technology solutions from an early stage, and contribute to challenges that extend beyond any single institution or company. You will work at the intersection of technology, finance and industry development, helping to strengthen Singapore's position as a leading global financial centre.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop and maintain full-stack applications that support FFI's programmes and industry initiatives
  • Build digital platforms, services and APIs that help financial institutions develop and deploy new technological capabilities
  • Develop digital capabilities that support industry capability development, implementation pathways and the application of new technologies across financial services
  • Design and implement secure backend services, data platforms and system integrations
  • Work across frontend, backend, cloud and data environments to deliver reliable, secure and maintainable software solutions
  • Work directly with financial institutions, technology firms and researchers to understand industry challenges and translate them into practical technology solutions
  • Help shape the technical architecture, engineering practices and technology choices that underpin FFI's digital capabilities
  • Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and software engineering best practices
  • Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve system performance, security and reliability
  • Support the ongoing enhancement of platforms and services based on user feedback and evolving industry needs

[What we are looking for]

  • Minimum 5 years of full-stack development experience with ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in Angular and React frameworks for frontend development of financial technology applications
  • Experience with popular backend frameworks such as Node.js (Express), Python (Django/Flask), Java (Spring Boot), or .NET Core
  • Hands-on experience with RDBMS (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB), and caching systems (e.g., Redis)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Docker, container orchestration, and microservices architecture
  • Previous experience in financial services, banking, insurance, or FinTech sectors
  • Proven track record developing secure, internet-facing applications with user authentication systems
  • Strong understanding of secure coding practices for regulated financial environments
  • Experience with CI/CD processes, SQL optimisation, and database design for high-performance applications
  • Proficiency with Git, automated testing frameworks, and performance optimisation techniques

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Familiarity with vector database technologies and AI/ML infrastructure
  • Experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration in enterprise environments
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Experience working on AI implementation projects or digital transformation initiatives within financial institutions
  • Experience in payments, capital markets, insurance or banking sectors
  • Experience working in multicultural, international business environments

Personal Attributes:

  • Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively in cross-functional teams and managing multiple stakeholder relationships
  • Critical thinking skills and results-oriented mindset with focus on delivering high-quality outputs that drive meaningful impact for Singapore's financial sector
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, evolving regulatory environment with changing priorities and emerging technologies
  • Intellectual curiosity and commitment to continuous learning in rapidly evolving AI and financial technology landscapes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

You will be working in a fast-paced environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and needs of stakeholders, as well as the agility to respond to changes and developments.

This is a 1-year contract. As part of the shortlisting process for this role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.

All applicants will be notified on whether they are shortlisted or not within 4 weeks of the closing date of this job posting.
