Senior Software Engineer - Flight Operations - Frontend

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a leading role in the development of the Avinode Flight Operations product offering. As a member of a product team made up of a Product Manager, UX Designer, Test Lead, and Software Engineers, you will plan, implement, and release business-critical features for customers across the business aviation industry.

What you will do

• Working together with your teammates, design appropriate technical solutions to implement new product features and improve current features. You will be working both in our existing React frontend and C# .NET monolith as well as developing new services when needed.
• Maintain and improve our React tooling and build pipeline.
• Work to bring our codebase up to date with current best practices, libraries, and platforms.
• Research and advocate for new technologies and techniques that would be beneficial to your team and/or the wider Engineering organisation.
• Act as a mentor to less experienced engineers as a technical resource to Avinode Group as a whole, providing information, advice, and technical assistance when requested.

Who you are

• You have 7+ years of experience building frontend applications with JavaScript and React, as well as some experience with the .NET ecosystem. You are more experienced with frontend development, but you will be expected to contribute to all parts of the stack when necessary.
• You are comfortable both with maintaining code that uses older JavaScript technologies (we still have some JQuery and Knockout JS pages) and with migrating it to React.
• You have experience creating and maintaining tools for developer experience, deployment, security, automation in the NodeJS / NPM ecosystem.
• You have some experience working with relational databases and some proficiency with SQL (we use MS SQL Server, but experience with Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, etc. is fine).
• You have a proven track record of leading projects, mentoring other members of your team, and researching and integrating new tools and technologies into your work.
• You are familiar with software development and delivery best practices, and know how to ensure your team is following them.
• You communicate well. With offices in multiple time zones and multiple countries, this position requires strong written and verbal communication skills.
