Join the FundsCore Platform team at Grab - a dynamic team building a reliable platform to address challenging problems in the Payments domain. We are a team of engineers, designers, product managers, and operations. We innovate and collaborate to solve one of the most challenging problems: ensuring accurate settlement to large numbers of merchants. This role prefers you have certain Payments domain expertise or demonstrate quick-learning skills.

Get to Know the Role

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you'll design, build, and operate backend services that power critical business applications at scale. You'll work collaboratively with product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features while driving operational excellence and mentoring fellow engineers. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by architecting innovative solutions in a supportive environment.

You will report to the Engineering Manager II based in Singapore and work onsite and CMC Creative Space office, HCMC.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Design and implement scalable, reliable backend services using modern programming languages and frameworks, with a focus on performance, cost-efficiency, and maintainability
• Own delivery of features and projects, including requirements clarification, technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch monitoring
• Lead and participate in technical discussions and design reviews, making thoughtful trade-offs between reliability, latency, throughput, and cost
• Instrumenting services with comprehensive metrics, logs, and traces; define SLIs/SLOs; improve alerting strategies; and perform capacity planning and performance optimization
• Collaborate with other teams to design end-to-end workflows that are secure, scalable, and user-centric
• Contribute to engineering excellence by improving CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, documentation standards, and design practices within the team
• Mentor other engineers through constructive code reviews, knowledge sharing, and best practice guidance in design, coding, and operational excellence
• Participate in on-call rotations and handle production incidents
• Support hiring initiatives by conducting technical interviews and helping refine interview processes and guidelines

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an advanced degree. Good Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Proficiency in Golang, with an understanding of its syntax, semantics, standard libraries, concurrency features, and experience optimizing applications.
• Experience with RDBMS technologies like MySQL and PostgreSQL, including expertise in database performance, query tuning, and reliability.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, with knowledge in designing scalable, internet-scale microservices.
• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and AWS CloudFormation, along with experience automating infrastructure.
• Skills in development practices such as TDD, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery, using tools like GIT, Jenkins, and unit testing frameworks.
• Experience applying AI-assisted software development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar tools to improve engineering productivity across coding, debugging, testing, refactoring, and code review.
• Experience leveraging AI tools to improve production engineering workflows, including incident investigation, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and system design.
