Get to Know the Team

GrabX is the centralized platform for managing product configurations and running experiments at Grab. It allows users to control how products behave for different users, regions, and conditions without the need for code deployments. This flexibility ensures that product teams can iterate quickly and safely on configurations, enhancing the overall user experience. The platform is designed to accelerate Grab's product rollout velocity while maintaining positive benefits for consumers and ensuring that business performance remains unaffected. By decoupling configuration from code, GrabX empowers teams to make data-driven decisions and optimize product impacts through controlled experiments.

Get to Know the Role

We're looking for Senior Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Singapore. In this role, you'll take ownership of designing, building, and maintaining critical software systems that power our internal experimentation platform and serve millions of users across the region. You'll work on highly visible, business-critical features while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that drive business impact. This is an opportunity to grow as a technical leader, mentor junior engineers, and shape the future of our engineering organization.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Design and build scalable, maintainable solutions that support platform growth and reliability
• Deliver well-tested code and uphold engineering standards across the team
• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to turn business needs into solutions
• Improve system performance, reliability, observability, and engineering quality through optimization and refactoring
• Contribute to technical design, architecture, and code reviews
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement measures to strengthen system reliability
• Mentor junior engineers through guidance and knowledge sharing
• Use data and experimentation to improve technical decisions, customer experience, and business outcomes
• Participate in on-call rotations and own incident response and resolution
• Stay current with industry practices and technologies, bringing ideas to the team

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• 5+ years of professional experience building production systems at scale
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, system design, architecture, and scalability expertise
• Proficiency in modern languages such as Go, Sparks, or Java, and relevant frameworks
• Experience building and maintaining complex distributed systems at scale
• Knowledge of performance optimization, reliability, testing, and debugging best practices
• Experience designing and integrating APIs and backend services
• Understanding of secure coding and security-first system design
• Solve ambiguous problems with pragmatic, high-quality solutions
• Strong collaboration skills in cross-functional teams
• Product mindset with a focus on user experience and customer needs
• Experience with experimentation, instrumentation, and data-informed development
• Familiarity with modern development tools, CI/CD, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development

Preferrable Skills

• Experience with database design and optimization, microservices, or containerization
• Background in payments, FinTech, authentication, or other high-trust products
• Contributions to open-source projects or technical thought leadership
• Experience with a relational database such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle
