We are now looking for an additional Senior Software Engineer to enhance our Software Engineering capacity to develop the analytics, analytic applications and analytic platforms in support of our business insights.

As a key member of the Analytics Engineering Team, you will be part of UnitedHealth Group's mission of helping people live healthier lives. You will work with other Software Engineers and Data Scientists along with subject matter experts to deliver code with high quality for our applications, products and services.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical lead contributing to and directing the efforts of development teams, including internal and external team members
  • Lead end-to-end software engineering activities, including requirements analysis, system design, development, testing, deployment, and application support
  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable, high-performance software applications and AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with emphasis on responsible use of AI
  • Build and optimize data workflows and pipelines using Python, PySpark, and SQL to process large-scale datasets efficiently
  • Research, evaluate, and deploy new tools, frameworks and patterns to build a sustainable Analytic platform
  • Advance DevOps practices by contributing to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring
  • Create prototypes, proof-of-concepts & design and code reviews
  • Collaborate with management, quality assurance, architecture, and other development teams
  • Write technical documentation and participate in production support

Required Qualifications:

  • Software development experience
  • Development experience with Python, Java/Scala, JSON, Web Services
  • Experience in relationship databases (SQL)
  • Experience in distributed systems technologies like Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Snowflake
  • Experience in developing applications on at least one major cloud platform (Azure preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Azure cloud services, including compute, networking, security, and resiliency concepts
  • Experience with building PySpark data pipelines in Databricks
  • Hands-on or practical exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or orchestration platforms such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • Healthcare experience
