Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will join ABB's Industrial Automation Digital Organization as a Software Engineer – AI Applications & Copilot Platforms. You will develop enterprise-grade AI-enabled applications, intelligent automation solutions, and cloud-native services that power ABB's next-generation Industrial AI and Copilot platforms. Working closely with Technical Leads, Solution Architects, AI/ML Engineers, Product Management, DevOps, and Quality Engineering teams, you will deliver scalable software solutions using modern development practices, AI technologies, and Agile methodologies.

This role is contributing to the Digital Industry Analytics / Research & Development organization in Bangalore, India.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Design, develop, and maintain AI-powered enterprise applications, backend services, REST APIs, microservices, and responsive user interfaces using Python, .NET, Angular, and Microsoft Azure technologies.
• Develop intelligent application capabilities by implementing AI workflows, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), conversational AI, enterprise Copilot integrations, and cloud-native platform services while ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
• Collaborate with Technical Leads, Architects, AI/ML Engineers, DevOps, and Product Management teams to deliver high-quality software solutions, support Agile delivery, and drive engineering excellence throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Contribute to software quality and continuous improvement through testing, CI/CD automation, technical documentation, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and adherence to secure coding and engineering best practices.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in software engineering and enterprise application development using Python, .NET/C#, Angular, SQL, and REST API technologies.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native application development, microservices architecture, distributed systems, and modern software engineering best practices.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices is preferred.
• Exposure to AI-enabled applications, enterprise Copilot solutions, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), or intelligent automation platforms is an added advantage.
• Good knowledge of software testing, debugging, performance optimization, application lifecycle management, and Agile development methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills with a passion for learning emerging AI and cloud technologies.
