We are looking for a highly motivated, passionate and talented Senior Software Engineer to join our team focused on datacenter networking, buildout automation, and network support. You will help design and deliver the tools, systems, and processes that enable rapid, reliable network deployments across Azure datacenters while ensuring operational excellence in network support.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and operate highly scalable cloud services and infrastructure with high availability, reliability, and performance requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring that highly usable, reliable and secure services are delivered to delight our customers.
  • Leverages subject-matter expertise and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers, program managers, design) to drive product features from design through implementation.
  • Exhibit thought leadership in helping take the platform forward with new capabilities, innovation, and improving the engineering and operational practices of the team.
  • Effectively create clarity of status, progress and blockers affecting large projects.
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working alongside the on-call engineer to maintain safe operations of the service.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in building, shipping and operating reliable, distributed systems software.
  • 2+ years of experience developing software hosted in Azure, AWS, or other similar cloud platforms.
  • Ability to engage in site-reliability engineering practices.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in commercial software development.
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud infrastructure, automation, or platform engineering is preferred.
  • Commitment to collaboration and teamwork and ability to deliver via influence.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and debugging skills.
