We're REA

With bold and ambitious goals, REA Group is changing the way the world experiences property. No matter where you're at on your property journey, we're here to help with every step - whether that's finding or financing your next home. Our people are the key to our success. At the heart of everything we do is a thriving culture centred around high performance and care. We are purpose driven and collaborative, which drives innovation and our ability to make a real impact. As such, we’re proud to have been named one of Australia’s Best Workplaces four times since 2021 — including third place in 2025 — plus Best Workplace for Women in 2023 and Best Workplace in Technology in 2024 and 2025. These listings are testament to every person who helps make REA a great place to work.

Where the team fits in

This role sits in Financial Services, in the squad responsible for the digital experiences that help consumers discover, engage with and progress towards finance with Mortgage Choice. The squad owns and evolves key consumer-facing experiences across mortgagechoice.com.au and broker minisites, including content and lead journeys, calculators and conversion flows, and the integrations and services that power them. The team balances feature delivery with platform modernisation, system health, security, reliability and operational excellence so customer experiences remain fast, trusted and easy to evolve.

What the role is all about

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key hands-on role in building, running and evolving Mortgage Choice’s consumer digital experiences. You’ll design, build and maintain high-quality software across websites, CMS-backed experiences, calculators, lead journeys and supporting services. You’ll own technical delivery from discovery and solution design through build, release, monitoring and continuous improvement, while partnering closely with product, design and engineering peers to shape simple, scalable solutions. You’ll also contribute to stronger engineering practices through code review, technical design, documentation and mentoring, while helping the team modernise its architecture, tooling and ways of working over time.

Who we’re looking for

  • Strong experience building and operating customer-facing digital products in a cross-functional product environment.

  • Deep software engineering fundamentals, including solution design, code quality, debugging, refactoring and sound technical judgement.

  • Strong hands-on experience in backend and web engineering, ideally including C#/.NET and modern JavaScript or TypeScript-based applications.

  • Experience working with APIs, integrations and data flows in production systems.

  • Experience with CMS-backed websites or content-rich digital experiences, ideally in platforms such as Umbraco or similar headless or hybrid CMS environments.

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and modern delivery practices, ideally including AWS, containers, CI/CD and automated testing.

  • A strong quality mindset, with a focus on safe deployment practices, observability, performance, security and operational excellence.

  • A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to mentor others, raise standards and positively influence how the squad works.

The REA experience

The physical, mental, emotional and financial health of our people is something we’ll never stop caring about. This is a place to learn and grow. Some of our perks and benefits include:

  • A hybrid and flexible approach to working.

  • Flexible leave options including birthday leave and the ability to purchase additional leave.

  • Flexible parental leave offering for primary and secondary carers.

  • Hackdays so you can bring your big ideas to life.

We are committed to providing a working environment that embraces and values diversity, equity and inclusion. We believe teams with diverse ideas and experiences are more creative, more effective and fuel disruptive thinking.
