Disney Streaming is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Billing team. The team is responsible for building and maintaining our Orders, Invoices and Billing systems which must be scaled to handle high-traffic events like Pay Per Views while also processing the recurring billing cycles for millions of subscribers daily – all while managing the security and reliability of our homegrown systems.

As we build out our flexible architecture, the critical contributions of this team will enable our finance/marketing teams to fulfill their vision of growing our subscriber base internationally. Our billing solutions span retail, wholesale and third-party channels and you will collaborate closely with your peers to deliver a world-class solution that processes millions of transactions every day. Responsibilities

• Design high performance and scalable systems and improve system architecture
• Work closely with product and engineering leadership to spec-out, design and implement solutions for our partners
• Write, test and release elegant software systems that are robust and scalable production ready using the latest technologies
• Demonstrate engineering excellence by developing high performance software, while following an agile development methodology
• Use a mix of technologies including: Scala, Java, Kafka/Kinesis, DynamoDB and Lambda

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in software engineering
• Minimum of 2 years of experience programming with at least one of the following languages: Java, Scala or Python
• Experience working at scale and high RPS throughput
• Familiarity with SQL
• Outstanding communication, collaboration skills, and a strong ethic of teamwork
• Quality-first demeanor with a focus on test automation and CI/CD
• Strong analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with AI tooling such as Claude Code or Cursor
• Experience with Spinnaker and Kubernetes
• Experience with gRPC
• Experience with AWS, Terraform

#DISNEYTECH

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $148,700 to $199,400 and in Los Angeles, CA is $141,900 to $190,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
