Senior Software Developer - Platform Utilities & Upgrades (PU&U)

The platform organisation in Malmö develops and operates the software that underpins Verisure's alarm and smart home systems. We are responsible for the services that keep millions of connected devices online, upgradeable, and traceable, from the moment a device is manufactured until it is returned or decommissioned.

About the role

As a Senior Software Developer in Platform Utilities & Upgrades (PU&U), you will join a team of around 11 backend engineers building and operating a portfolio of internal platform services. These cover device lifecycle management (factory provisioning, firmware upgrades, SIM management) and internal operator and support tooling used daily by Verisure technicians and administrators. Several of these services run with 24/7 SLA requirements; device provisioning and support tooling are business-critical, always-on parts of the platform.

You will design, build, and operate microservices spanning device lifecycle management, SIM connectivity, firmware/upgrade orchestration, and internal utility tooling. You will work closely with the team's Product Owner, fellow developers, and PU&U's external EMS partners to translate manufacturing and operational requirements into reliable software. You are expected to take technical ownership of parts of the system, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor less experienced developers.

Who are you?

We are looking for an experienced backend developer with a strong technical foundation and the confidence to take ownership of complex, business-critical services. You enjoy working in an environment with a long-term technical vision but shifting short-term priorities, and you communicate clearly with both engineering peers and non-technical stakeholders. You take pride in code quality, system reliability, and helping the team improve its ways of working.

Required:

• Several years of hands-on experience as a backend software developer, ideally in a microservice/distributed systems environment
• Solid experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Experience with containerised deployment (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Fluency in English (verbal and written)

Also, great if you have:

• Experience with message-driven architecture (e.g. RabbitMQ)
• Experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL)
• Frontend experience (React/JavaScript) is a plus, though not the core focus of the role
• Familiarity with device lifecycle management, IoT connectivity, or hardware/software integration
• Experience working in an environment with external hardware/manufacturing partners
• AWS experience
