The Scenario Analysis & Valuation (SAV) department at Ortec Finance is accelerating its innovation roadmap by developing the next generation of our Economic Scenario Generator - in Python! To help and enable the team to be responsible, we are looking for a Software Developer who can elevate our technical capabilities: someone who excels in production-grade software development, cloud-native architecture, and modern software engineering practices. The team collaborates closely with quantitative financial analysts, to translate complex mathematical models into robust, flexible, production-grade software. As Senior Software Developer, you play a key role in building scalable, reliable, and high-quality systems that are both mathematically robust and technically excellent.
The Quant Development team currently consists of 4 enthusiastic and highly educated professionals with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. As a Senior Software Developer, you focus on tackling technical challenges, coaching the team and supporting the Lead Developer in setting up and distributing the team's workload, while also actively participating in development tasks yourself. You play a key role in guiding your colleagues in professional software development methods and are motivated by both the growth of the team and the delivery of high-quality solutions. You have solid knowledge of mathematics and data science, are familiar with cloud platforms (such as Azure), strong skills in data processing, and apply modern DevOps practices. Naturally, you fully recognize yourself in our core values.
In addition, the following aspects are important:
Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
At least 5 years of relevant work experience as a software developer, with demonstrable experience in a technical lead role.
Experience with planning, prioritizing, and distributing tasks and projects within a development team.
Excellent proficiency in Python and its ecosystem (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy), being flexible in switching between paradigms and having a clear vision on development choices.
Affinity or experience with quantitative finance, econometrics, or stochastic modeling is a strong plus.

Ortec Finance was created in 2007 through a management buyout of the company ORTEC bv, which was founded in 1981 by four innovative students of econometrics at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam who believed that mathematical models could be used to optimize the performance of companies.
