Job Description

Liquid Personnel is looking for a Senior Social Worker to join our client's Children in Care team in Barnsley. This role is for an experienced practitioner who can manage a complex workload independently, providing high-quality interventions and acting as a mentor to develop practice standards within the team.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Expert Caseload Management: Independently manage a complex workload of children in care, maintaining high standards of professional practice.
  • Relationship & Participation: Build effective relationships with children and families to ensure their views are central to decision-making and care planning.
  • Advanced Assessment: Undertake and produce high-quality assessments in accordance with statutory and operational standards, with a focus on anticipating and managing risk in complex situations.
  • Intervention & Review: Plan and implement a range of interventions for children and carers, ensuring regular reviews in line with service policies.
  • Communication & Advocacy: Communicate confidently in high-risk or complex situations, clearly recording analysis and professional judgements in succinct reports.
  • Mentoring & Leadership: Play a positive role in practice development by mentoring others and modelling best practices in assessments and inter-agency work.
  • Professional Reflection: Make proactive use of supervision for reflection and career development to meet the requirements of the Professional Capabilities Framework.

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Social Work England registration.
  • CQSW, DipSW, or Degree in Social Work.
  • Significant Post-Qualified Experience: Proven experience in a statutory Children in Care or similar frontline setting.
  • Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence and access to a car insured for business use (essential car user post).
  • Advanced Skills: Expertise in managing risk, complex assessments, and working effectively with partners and other agencies.
