Job Description

About Varley Clothing

Varley is a contemporary fashion brand for the modern woman. Founded in 2015 by husband-and-wife Lara and Ben Mead, we are an international, family-run business headquartered between London, Los Angeles, and New York.

We create year-round collections designed to build an elevated wardrobe for how women live and move. From knitwear and outerwear to everyday staples and active pieces, our collections blend style, function, and versatility.

Varley exists to instil quiet confidence through meaningful connections that enhance everything women already are. As women’s lives evolve, so do we.

Our international family-run team is 85% female, making us proud to be a brand for women, by women. We are guided by two core beliefs: the pursuit of quality in everything we do and looking after one another.

Senior Social Media Manager – Varley

The role

We're looking for an experienced Senior Social Media Manager who shares our belief in considered, modern style and knows how to translate the Varley point of view into engaging, social-first content. You'll lead the strategy and direction of our organic social channels, bringing in-depth platform knowledge and a clear understanding of what drives performance on each channel.

You'll be equal parts strategic and creative, with a genuine passion for social media and a strong eye for design.

You'll decide how the brand shows up across Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and emerging platforms, what we make and why, and how we measure success. You'll ensure all content is social-first, from formats and edits to graphics, copy and sound. You'll also champion innovation within the channel, identifying opportunities to evolve our approach and presenting new ideas and recommendations.

You'll partner with our in-house content creators to bring the strategy to life, setting the vision and making sure everything that goes live feels unmistakably Varley.

This role will work from two locations, our London office and also our Wandsworth studio.

What you'll do

Strategy and planning

  • Own the organic social strategy across all channels, aligned to brand, product and commercial priorities
  • Build quarterly and monthly content plans around collection launches, campaigns, retail moments and always-on storytelling
  • Define channel roles, content pillars and formats, and evolve them as platforms and audience behaviour change
  • Bring a clear social point of view to cross-functional planning, making sure social is built into campaigns from the start, not adapted at the end

Social-first content and creative

  • Partner with our in-house content creators to make content that's native to each platform, from campaign shoots to always-on formats
  • Set the standard for social-first craft, including hooks, pacing, edits, transitions, sound, on-screen text, graphics and cover frames
  • Translate our campaign, product and editorial content into multiple social formats, from short-form video and graphics to teaser posts, rather than simply resizing assets
  • Find new and engaging ways to communicate the brand's point of view across our channels
  • Build social needs into shoot plans and shot lists, and be actively involved in shoots, events, store activations and brand moments to direct and capture content
  • Work with the brand marketing team so creator content complements our own channel output
  • Review and sign off content, guarding the Varley tone of voice and visual identity across every post, caption and comment

Innovation and new ideas

  • Monitor platform updates, new features, emerging formats and cultural moments, and assess their relevance for the brand
  • Identify opportunities to evolve our content approach, including new content series, formats, graphic styles and editing techniques
  • Develop and present new ideas and test proposals, supported by a clear rationale and success measures
  • Manage a structured test-and-learn programme, scaling approaches that deliver results
  • Apply sound judgement on which trends align with the brand

Hands-on creation when it counts

  • Shoot, edit and build posts yourself for reactive, trend-led and quick-turnaround moments
  • Create and refine graphics, carousels, covers and captions so everything is platform-native and ready to publish
  • Set the creative standard and show the team what great social content looks like

Performance and insight

  • Set channel KPIs and report on reach, engagement, community growth and contribution to traffic and sales
  • Turn data into clear recommendations that shape future content, formats and tests
  • Share learnings with the paid social team so organic insight informs creative
  • Benchmark against competitors and best-in-class brands, in and outside fashion, to keep raising the bar

What you'll bring

  • 6+ years in social media, including at least 2–3 years leading strategy for a brand
  • A background in fashion, luxury or premium lifestyle brands
  • Genuine social expertise, with deep knowledge of Instagram and TikTok, including native features, formats and algorithms, and a close eye on what's next
  • A strong instinct for social-first content, including formats, edits, graphics and sound that drive engagement
  • A track record of introducing new ideas and formats, and turning tests into results
  • Confidence pitching ideas and making the case for them with senior stakeholders
  • A proven track record of growing engaged communities and delivering measurable results
  • Experience partnering with creative teams and content creators
  • Hands-on shooting, editing and design ability, with confidence in tools such as CapCut, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop, Canva or Figma
  • A sharp editorial and visual eye, strong copywriting skills and an instinct for what feels on-brand
  • Confidence with analytics tools and turning numbers into a story
  • Experience managing and developing junior team members

Please include examples of social strategies you've led, new ideas or formats you've introduced, and content you've created or directed with your application.
