What’s the opportunity?

As a Snowflake Data Architect in Telstra Health’s Architecture and Standards group you will apply your deep understanding of the healthcare industry, data architecture patterns, and the Snowflake Platform to provide well-architected data and analytics solutions for our customers and partners.

About the role:

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance Snowflake solutions, developing reusable patterns for data warehousing, data lakes, and real-time data.
• Apply healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7, CDA) and ensure security, privacy, and compliance with regulations (e.g. GDPR, IRAP).
• Build and optimise data models, and design efficient ELT pipelines to integrate real-time and batch data from diverse sources.
• Implement robust controls such as RBAC, encryption, and data masking to safeguard sensitive information.
• Partner with business units, engineers, and external providers to align architecture with strategic needs; act as the Snowflake subject matter expert.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and champion Snowflake best practices across teams.
• Monitor and tune workloads, improve pipeline efficiency, and optimise storage and compute resources.
• Provide knowledge sharing, training, and mentorship to colleagues and junior team members.

About you:

• Proven ability to design and deliver solutions on the Snowflake Data Cloud platform.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Snowflake.
• Solid background in data architecture and engineering.
• Deep knowledge of data integration, including Medallion-style architecture.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of working effectively across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of AWS data services (e.g. S3, IAM, RDS).
• Experience with dimensional data modelling.
• Understanding of healthcare data standards (HL7 FHIR) and terminologies (SNOMED CT-AU, LOINC, ICD-10).
• Exposure to Salesforce Health Cloud.
