Job Description
Weatherford is seeking an experienced Senior Slickline / Electric Line (E-Line) Repair & Maintenance Technician to join our Wireline Services team in Aberdeen. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, testing, and certification of Slickline and E-Line equipment supporting operations across the UK and Europe.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring extensive experience with Wireline intervention equipment, workshop operations, troubleshooting, quality compliance, and maintenance management systems. The position will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, operational readiness, and continuous improvement of R&M processes.
Responsibilities:
- Perform inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, and function testing of Slickline and E-Line equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic faults and implement effective corrective actions.
- Conduct redress and servicing of Wireline downhole tools and surface equipment.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with OEM manuals, work instructions, and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records within company systems such as MYA, JDE, and other maintenance management platforms.
- Support equipment mobilization and demobilization activities for offshore and onshore operations.
- Participate in failure investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), CPARs, and corrective action programs.
- Ensure all workshop activities comply with company QHSE standards and industry regulations.
- Assist with inventory control, spare parts management, and equipment tracking.
- Support the development and mentoring of junior technicians and apprentices.
- Participate in equipment SITs (System Integration Tests), FATs, and client demonstrations when required.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Field Service teams to ensure equipment readiness.
- Provide technical input for maintenance procedures, work instructions, and equipment manuals.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Wireline workshop.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Minimum 8–10 years of Wireline R&M experience within the oil and gas industry.
- Strong experience with both Slickline and Electric Line intervention equipment.
- Proven experience working in a UK North Sea Wireline environment.
- Experience maintaining:
- Running and pulling tools
- Jars, stems, and ancillary Slickline equipment
- Logging tools and associated E-Line equipment
- Surface acquisition systems and depth systems
- Mechanical setting tools
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, assembly documents, and maintenance manuals.
- Experience performing failure analysis and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of workshop quality systems and maintenance documentation.
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.
Qualifications & Experience Preferred:
- Previous experience with Weatherford, SLB, Halliburton, Baker Hughes, Expro, Archer, or similar Wireline service companies.
- Knowledge of Weatherford Wireline technologies and maintenance systems.
- HNC/HND or equivalent technical qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering.
- Offshore certification (BOSIET, MIST, Medical) desirable.
