Job Description

Imagine a future where your commercial insight helps accelerate the green energy transition by creating value in Europe's gas markets while supporting a reliable and balanced energy system.

Join us in this role where you'll contribute to the performance of our European gas portfolio through short-term trading and balancing activities. You'll identify market opportunities, make informed trading decisions, and help ensure operational excellence while working with experienced colleagues in a collaborative and supportive environment where learning and development are encouraged every day.

Welcome to Gas

You'll be part of the Short-Term Gas Trading team where you, together with your colleagues, will provide the route to market for our European gas portfolio. The team executes trading strategies, and captures opportunities across short-term gas markets. Working closely with specialists across the business, you'll contribute to value creation while helping ensure reliable operations and effective risk management.

As a team, we support each other's growth, share knowledge openly, and succeed together by combining diverse perspectives, strong collaboration, and a passion for delivering results.

You'll play an important role in:

  • trading intraday and day-ahead gas markets across Europe to balance the portfolio and create value
  • optimising the value of flexible assets and positions within our gas portfolio
  • monitoring, developing, and executing short-term trading strategies
  • improving our operational and analytical capabilities through automation and digitalisation
  • collaborating with colleagues across functions to support trading, balancing, and portfolio optimisation activities
  • participating in a 24/7 shift rotation covering all days of the year.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • bring experience from energy markets, ideally within gas, commodities, financial markets, or a related commercial environment
  • enjoy analysing data and using insights to make well-informed decisions
  • collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders in an international environment
  • take ownership of your work while actively contributing to team success
  • remain focused and adaptable in fast-changing market conditions
  • communicate clearly and build positive working relationships across different functions.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.

Shape the future with us

Send your application to us as soon as possible. We’ll be conducting interviews on a continuous basis and reserve the right to take down the advert when we’ve found the right candidate.

Please note that for your application to be taken into consideration, you must submit your application via our online career pages and answer the screening questions relevant for your country. We don't take applications or inquiries from external recruiters or agencies into account for this position.

About Ørsted

Ørsted is the global leader in offshore wind power and is one of the largest renewable energy companies in the world.

Within a decade, we transformed from being one of Europe’s most fossil fuel-intensive utilities to being ranked as one of the most sustainable energy companies in the world. Today, we’re guided by a clear vision: to create a world that runs entirely on green energy.

We provide countries, companies, and communities with sustainable, reliable, and cost-competitive energy solutions, including offshore and onshore wind, solar, renewable hydrogen, and energy storage. We built the world’s first offshore wind farm back in 1991, and with over 2,000 turbines at sea, we’ve installed more offshore wind capacity than anyone else. In total, we own or operate over 17 GW of renewable energy capacity across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

We know that to build renewable energy at pace and scale, we must build it right. We commit to developing and operating our assets in harmony with nature and in line with the need for science-based climate action. We prioritise integrity and safety in our operations, and we respect the human rights and diverse values of every employee and stakeholder.

As a global renewable energy leader, we leverage the curiosity and passion of our people to innovate and take new or existing technologies to scale, collaborating with governments, suppliers, and our industry partners to make green energy solutions a reality.
