About the role

Grüns operates multiple storefronts ranging from mature businesses to pre-launch start-ups. We need a Senior Shopify Full Stack Developer to own that Shopify architecture end to end, drive our AI-powered engineering workflows, and keep the technical bar high across a lean, high-impact team. This role has full ownership from architecture to deployment and will directly shape how fast Grüns can move for years to come. We are building a foundation that lets us launch new products, new storefronts, and new markets fast without rebuilding the wheel each time, while adjusting the site experience to each product's needs.

This role is part of our remote HQ! We have a fully remote, high-trust work environment - and also come together on a bi-annual basis for amazing off-sites where we can connect IRL.

In this role, you will:

  • Own the shared theme and design system architecture across all Grüns storefronts, built for scale across current and future brands
  • Build best-in-class customer experiences: architect and ship major features (bundle builders, membership flows, new brand launches, international expansion) from design handoff to production
  • Build AI-powered engineering workflows (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) that make you faster, and that let non-engineers on the team do more themselves
  • Design and implement scalable systems, shared components, and developer tooling that speed up CRO testing, new product launches, and brand rollouts
  • Own site performance and reliability: enforce standards for site speed, SEO/GEO readiness, accessibility, and uptime, and use monitoring tools to catch issues before they're a problem
  • Build and maintain integrations between Shopify Plus and backend systems like CRM, CDP, order management, and fulfillment
  • Execute the nCAC and retention roadmaps in production, with full QA and rollout ownership
  • Partner with Ecom, Growth, and Design to translate business priorities into technical milestones, estimate effort, and surface dependencies early
  • Champion engineering quality with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and documentation that doesn't slow the team down
  • Launch new brands and storefronts onto the shared architecture as Grüns expands

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has 7-10 years of full stack development experience, including at least 4 years building Shopify themes and apps with Liquid and React
  • Has a proven track record owning front-end and back-end Shopify builds end to end, from architecture to deployment, not just contributing pieces
  • Has built a shared theme or design system across multiple brands or storefronts (strongly preferred), and thinks in reusable infrastructure, not one-off builds
  • Uses AI coding tools daily as a core part of how they ship, not as an experiment
  • Has deep command of Shopify Plus, Liquid, React/Next.js, Node.js, Tailwind, GraphQL and REST APIs, and modern CI/CD pipelines
  • Has familiarity with headless commerce approaches
  • AWS or GCP, personalization frameworks, or additional performance monitoring experience is a plus

  • Highly autonomous. Can take a Figma file and partner with the designer to build it out without needing a fully spec'd user story
  • Balances speed with scalability and communicates trade-offs clearly so the team can align on a pragmatic path forward
  • Design-minded and customer-focused. Contributes ideas that improve experience, performance, and conversion, not just tickets to close
  • Builds for reuse first, creating infrastructure and components that empower every brand, not just the one in front of them
  • Communicates clearly across design, growth, and business stakeholders so everyone stays aligned

At Grüns, we're committed to providing a competitive total compensation package — grounded in market data that considers our size, stage, industry, and location. For this role, the base salary range is $150,000-$175,000 plus bonus depending on experience, paired with a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the well-being and growth of our team.
