Job Description

This position is for an alternate shift. Normal work week will be defined as Thursday-Sunday (4 ten hour days). Weekend work is required. This is a 1st shift position.

Quality Assurance Engineering plays a key role in ensuring Electric Boat delivers the quality required to protect our nation. This team is made up a diverse team that focus on ensuring and improving Quality across our business.

This position is for the Groton Quality Assurance Representative reporting to the QA Supervisor for SEP determination and certification. This position supports the Special Emphasis Programs (i.e. SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC, and FBW-SCS) for work accomplished at the Groton and off site facilities.

This position supports ensuring Electric Boat meets Quality Requirements to ensure our products protect our sailors. This position gets to engage with internal and external customers, learn more about Electric Boat’s Legacy of Excellence and play a key role in ensuring work gets completed correctly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review & certify reentry control & initial installation records for SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC, LEVEL 1 and FBW/SCS material to support ship key events & delivery.
  • Provide SEP technical support & problem resolution.
  • Interface regularly with test, inspection, and trade personnel, Design and Construction Engineering, HII-NNS Quality counterparts, NAVSEA and Supervisor of Shipbuilding personnel
  • Must be able to read and interpret and apply company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with internal & external investigations into Quality matters.
  • Assist in review, modification, and implementation of Quality procedures.
  • Perform Quality related drawing and specification reviews.
  • Provide support for NAVSEA audits (e.g. Phase 1, Phase II, Functional, and NAVSEA 08)

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 5+ in a Quality Analyst Position in a related field OR 5+ years in QA at Electric Boat (i.e. QA Inspection, Quality Advocate, etc.) OR 5+ Years experience working with Special Emphasis paperwork in Trades (e.g. machine shop, pipe or structural welding, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including but not limited to: Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PPT, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC, and FBW SCS certification requirements
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Candidate be willing and able to work an alternate schedule including weekends
  • Must be able to read and interpret company policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in a role that required a high level of trust and integrity
  • Demonstrated ability to continuously improve self and core business processes

Preferred:

  • Experience with EB’s electronic systems including, CPJ, ERS and 7G
  • Experience in leading and conducting problem investigations (root cause analysis)
  • Previous military and / or submarine experience within the last decade –
  • Working knowledge of TECH PUB 278 and 1688 welding allied processes and documentation requirements –
  • Previous experience with a variety of NDT (MT, PT, RT, UT) and inspection documentation (SWSS/ERS weld tickets, CPJ 905 cards, 2552s RUTs TIRs, Ripouts, etc.
  • Experience with Shop Traveler work and Machine Shop Fabrication processes
