We are looking for an experienced Senior SHEQ Advisor to join our Social Infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven SHEQ professional to play a key role in supporting the delivery of major construction and refurbishment programmes while helping to shape a positive safety culture across the business.

Working closely with the SHEQ Manager, you will provide expert guidance, support operational teams, mentor SHEQ Advisors and help drive continuous improvement across safety, health, environmental and quality performance.

Key Responsibilities

SHEQ Leadership

  • Champion a proactive and positive SHEQ culture across multiple projects and workstreams.
  • Support the implementation of company policies, procedures and strategic SHEQ objectives.
  • Act as deputy to the SHEQ Manager when required.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and technical support to SHEQ Advisors.

Operational Support

  • Serve as the first point of contact for SHEQ Advisors within your designated workstreams.
  • Support operational teams with contractor performance concerns, compliance matters and day-to-day SHEQ issues.
  • Assist with monitoring SHEQ performance metrics and audit results through EcoOnline.
  • Support project and contract teams in maintaining effective project risk registers.

Incident Investigation

  • Lead and support incident, near miss and non-conformance investigations.
  • Ensure incidents are reported and managed in line with legal and company requirements.
  • Identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Share lessons learned across the wider business.

Stakeholder Management

  • Develop strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and operational teams.
  • Deliver SHEQ guidance and support through both site-based and remote engagement.
  • Attend project meetings, pre-start meetings and planning workshops.

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyse SHEQ data and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive initiatives that enhance safety, environmental sustainability and quality performance.
  • Support innovation and best practice sharing across projects.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in a SHEQ position within the construction, refurbishment or infrastructure sector.
  • Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
  • Experience supporting multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to build credibility with operational teams and senior management.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or Level 6 NVQ in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • IOSH Membership (CMIOSH or working towards).
  • Environmental or Quality Management qualifications would be advantageous.
