Are you an experienced shepherd ready to take the next step in your farming career? This Senior Shepherd role is an opportunity to bring your livestock expertise, sound judgement, and practical skills to the day-to-day running of Mt Hamilton Farm as part of an energetic and innovative team.
Mt Hamilton is currently being run in conjunction with a neighbouring farm, creating a unique opportunity to gain experience across both breeding and trading operations involving sheep, cattle, and deer.
As the Senior Shepherd, you’ll be a key member of our small team, working closely with the Farm Manager and taking responsibility across livestock operations and general farm activities. You’ll be trusted to work independently, help plan and prioritise daily work, and contribute ideas that improve farm performance.

Mt Hamilton Farm is 1,400ha effective, comprising 600ha of flat to rolling country along Chewing’s Road and the Te Anau–Mossburn Highway, plus 800ha of tussock hill country.
The station runs 600 MA hinds, 450 calving Angus cows, aiming to keep all progeny. Up to 3,000 lambs are brought in for finishing over the summer.
