Seeking a cleared ServiceNow Platform Engineer with very strong ITOM and CMDB skills. Must have an active Secret government clearance, or higher.

Salary: 140-170K

Senior ServiceNow Platform Engineer

Focused on ServiceNow platform strategy and technical implementation, with strong hands-on scripting expertise in JavaScript and GlideRecord. Requires the ability to troubleshoot and resolve platform issues, with a solid understanding of core ServiceNow modules including Incident, Change, Request, CMDB/CIs, Workflows, and Flow Designer. Must also have working knowledge of ITOM components such as Discovery, MID Servers, and CMDB data flow.

This position is a hybrid role that combines ServiceNow development, platform engineering, and operational break fix responsibilities, requiring both strong scripting skills and working knowledge of ITOM components

Mandatory: ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification and hands-on Certified Application Developer (CAD) experience.

Preferred: ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – IT Service Management (CIS-ITSM) certification.

Preferred: ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – CMDB (CIS-CMDB) certification.

  • Candidates should possess ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification.
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) certification and experience developing custom applications, workflows, and integrations within the platform.
  • Experience administering and supporting the ServiceNow platform, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve ITOM-related issues across Discovery, integrations, and platform operations.
  • Strong CMDB knowledge, including CI data quality, duplicate CI root cause analysis, and prevention strategies.
  • Basic ServiceNow scripting skills (Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes).
  • Demonstrate understanding of ServiceNow ITOM Discovery, including the end-to-end Discovery process, MID Servers, probes/sensors, and Identification & Reconciliation Engine (IRE)
  • Experience developing and supporting REST APIs and third-party integrations within the ServiceNow platform.
  • Strong knowledge of ServiceNow security and access control concepts, including ACL design and implementation.
  • Solid understanding of core ServiceNow development components and best practices, including Client Scripts, Business Rules, Flow Designer, Script Includes, and GlideAjax.
  • Ability to differentiate and apply ServiceNow platform capabilities such as Discovery vs. Orchestration and Flow Designer vs. traditional scripting approaches.

Requirements

  • Advanced development experience with ServiceNow ITOM modules (Discovery, Event Management, Orchestration, Service Mapping).
  • Strong scripting proficiency in JavaScript, PowerShell, and Python.
  • Experience building and customizing MID Servers in secure, segmented, or air‑gapped environments.
  • Hands-on experience implementing CI identification, reconciliation, and normalization logic.
  • Deep understanding of CMDB data models, ingestion pipelines, and data quality governance.
  • Experience with integrating ServiceNow with external systems using REST/SOAP, syslog, message queues, and SFTP.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure components (servers, networks, cloud, databases) relevant to discovery and service mapping.
  • Familiarity with secure development practices, RBAC models, encryption, and federal security compliance requirements.
  • Experience with Agile, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines for ServiceNow development.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across ITOM, CMDB, integrations, and orchestration components.
