About the Role

Nottingham City Council is seeking an experienced Senior Service Technician to support the operation and maintenance of the district heating network and associated infrastructure across the city.

This is a hands-on role undertaking both planned and reactive maintenance on key assets including pipework, pumps, valves, meters, boilers and CHP plant, ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of heat services to customers.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Level 3 Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship, a City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Construction – Fabrication Pipefitting, or similar, and/or significant relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstratable experience with pumps, valves, heat exchangers, system balancing and pipework behaviour i.e. airlocks and flow restrictions
  • Working knowledge of fault-finding methods and repair of heating systems and mechanical components or assemblies
  • The ability to communicate effectively with engineers, customers, contractors and residents.

- This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) (English Language Requirement for public sector workers) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English, is an essential requirement for the role.

- A DBS check is required for this post.

- The role requires you to participate in the on call rota.
