Job Title: Senior Service Engineer – Data Centre (HVAC & Chiller Systems)

Location: Mumbai/Navi Mumbai

Department: Service / Data Centre Operations

Reports To: Data centre Manager ( India)

Job Summary

The Senior Service Engineer will be responsible for service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning of Air‑Cooled and Water‑Cooled Chiller systems in data centre environments. The role also includes supporting and executing data centre HVAC projects, ensuring timely delivery, quality compliance, and seamless customer communication. This position requires deep technical expertise in chiller operations, system optimization, and data centre cooling infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform service, preventive maintenance, and corrective actions on Air‑Cooled and Water‑Cooled Chillers, including screw, scroll, and centrifugal systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues in chiller and HVAC systems.
  • Conduct chiller start-up, commissioning, performance testing, and system optimization.
  • Manage site execution for data center cooling projects, including planning, installation oversight, and coordination with contractors and OEM teams.
  • Support upgrades, retrofits, and energy‑efficiency improvements in existing data centre cooling infrastructure.
  • Review technical drawings, submittals, and project documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain detailed service reports, performance logs, and documentation for all equipment.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and customer operational protocols.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Interface with customers regularly to provide updates, clarify technical issues, and ensure completion of service and project tasks.
  • Participate in root‑cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for recurring issues.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (sales, project management, engineering) for seamless service and project delivery.
  • Timely submission of Root cause analysis & 8D reports to customers
  • Monthly MOR, Quarterly QBR meetings required to be attended with DC customers
  • Willing to work in shift duties along with availability during Holidays/ Festive seasons.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or relevant technical field.
  • 5–10 years of hands-on experience servicing Air‑Cooled and Water‑Cooled Chillers, preferably in data centre applications.
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, HVAC controls, BMS/EMS integration, and cooling redundancy concepts.
  • Experience in project execution, installation supervision, and commissioning of HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
  • Proficient in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and control faults using service tools and diagnostic software.
  • Strong customer communication skills and ability to work in critical data centre environments.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and industry best practices.
  • Good problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with mission‑critical data centres or large industrial cooling systems.
  • OEM-specific chiller training or certifications (e.g., Trane, Carrier, Daikin).
  • Knowledge of energy‑efficiency programs, retrofits, and system performance optimization.
  • Project management experience or certification is a plus.
