A fantastic opportunity has presented itself for a Senior Security Risk Specialist, reporting to the Manager, Security Risk, within our GRC & Advisory Services team.
A bit about your role
The Senior Security Risk Specialist plays a central role in supporting nbn’s commitment to safeguarding its people, information, and physical assets. This role plays a key role in shaping how security risk is identified, assessed, and reported across nbn, providing independent challenge while supporting effective risk treatment.
Operating across both Line 1 and Line 2 functions, the role provides independent oversight and challenge while also supporting teams to uplift their security risk maturity. The role involves assessing the maturity and effectiveness of security controls, guiding business units in developing treatment plans, and ensuring risks are managed within agreed tolerances.
Collaboration is key, with the role requiring close engagement across internal teams and external partners to align assurance activities with nbn’s security policies and standards. The position also supports strategic planning, contributes to governance reporting, and helps foster a culture of continuous improvement in security assurance practices.
A bit about you
The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capability and confidence in assessing control effectiveness, identifying gaps, and constructively challenging risk positions. A background in telecommunications or infrastructure is beneficial, along with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts clearly across diverse stakeholder groups.
A thoughtful and inclusive approach to problem-solving, combined with strong analytical and organisational capabilities, will support success in this role. The ability to work effectively within a matrixed environment and contribute to strategic outcomes is highly valued, as is a commitment to building collaborative relationships and driving positive change.
