The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Senior Security Engineer - SCEC to join our growing Defence and Security team and help deliver some of Australia's most complex and security-sensitive infrastructure projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of security engineering, supporting Defence, government and critical infrastructure clients to create secure, resilient and future-ready environments.

You'll play a key role in shaping security solutions across a diverse range of projects, providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers and working closely with clients to solve complex challenges. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll influence project outcomes from concept through to delivery while helping grow our Defence and Security capability nationally.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading the design and delivery of physical and electronic security solutions for Defence, government and critical infrastructure projects.
  • Providing specialist advice on SCEC requirements, Defence security policies and secure-by-design principles.
  • Solving complex security engineering challenges across high-security environments and mission-critical facilities.
  • Working closely with clients and project teams to develop practical, innovative and compliant security solutions.
  • Supporting technical assurance, design reviews and governance activities.
  • Mentoring and developing engineers while contributing to a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
  • Supporting business development activities and helping strengthen Mott MacDonald's presence within the Defence and Security sector.

About You

You are an experienced security engineering professional who enjoys tackling technically challenging projects and working closely with clients to deliver meaningful outcomes.

You'll bring:

  • Significant experience delivering security engineering solutions within Defence, secure government, critical infrastructure or other security-sensitive environments.
  • Current SCEC Endorsed Security Consultant accreditation (Security Zone Consultant and/or Security Equipment Consultant), or the ability to obtain and maintain accreditation.
  • Strong knowledge of physical security and electronic security systems.
  • Experience leading technical workstreams and collaborating within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • A solid understanding of Defence security requirements, SCEC standards and industry best practice.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • An NV1 security clearance (or the ability to obtain one).

Additional experience with Defence estate projects, secure ICT infrastructure, communications systems or professional engineering registrations will be highly regarded.
