Senior Scrub Theatre Practitioner – Spinal and Neurology
Location: London, The Wellington Hospital
Hours: Part-Time, 30 hours a week
Shifts: Four or five days per week, occasional Saturdays

Contract: Permanent
Salary: Competitive salary plus shift enhancements

We’re looking for a Senior Scrub Theatre Practitioner specialising in Spinal and Neurology to join our Theatre team at The Wellington Hospital. As the largest private hospital in the UK, The Wellington Hospital is recognised for delivering complex care across a range of specialties including neurosurgery, spinal surgery, cardiac care, orthopaedics, rehabilitation and cancer services. With 13 operating theatres across three buildings, you’ll work in a dynamic and highly specialised environment supported by advanced technology, expert multidisciplinary teams, and a strong culture of learning and collaboration.

As a Senior Scrub Theatre Practitioner within our Theatre Department, you’ll play an important role in supporting some of the most complex spinal and neurological procedures carried out in the independent sector. Working alongside highly experienced surgeons and theatre colleagues, you’ll contribute to exceptional patient outcomes while continuing to develop your own expertise. What you’ll do:

  • Deliver high quality perioperative care for patients undergoing complex spinal and neurological procedures.
  • Safely prepare and manage theatre environments, ensuring equipment, instruments and sterile fields are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Lead and coordinate theatre lists, supporting the smooth running of operating sessions.
  • Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.
  • Support a culture of safety, professionalism and shared learning across the theatre team.

What you’ll bring:

  • Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner qualification with a valid NMC or HCPC registration.
  • Current experience working as a Senior Scrub Theatre Practitioner within spinal and neurosurgical theatres.
  • Proven experience supporting complex spinal and neuro procedures such as ALIF, TLIF, XLIF, intradural lesion surgery and craniotomies.
  • Confidence in setting up theatres, managing theatre lists and working autonomously within a specialist environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
