Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and independent Senior Scientist with experience in hematologyoncology and a track record of scientific excellence to join our team in Waltham, MA, USA.

As a Senior Scientist, you will be leading hands-onresearch to evaluate the efficacy and mechanisms of small molecules in hematologyoncology You will utilize your cancer biology experience and in vivo expertise to generate robust pharmacology datasets that will have a direct impact on the oncology drug discoverypipeline.

Accountabilities

Working in this laboratory-based position in Hematology Oncology In Vivo Pharmacology, you will:

  • Develop, design, conduct and analyze in vivo experiments to assess the PK/PD/efficacy relationships and function of novel cancer therapeutics

  • Work collaboratively across multiple project teams and scientific disciplines to advance drug projects

  • Work with various software programs and databases, including AI platforms to capture all study data and data mining

  • Stay up to date with relevant scientific and technical expertise in cancer biology and pharmacology by actively reading the literature, attending relevant conferences

  • Independently provide data analysis, troubleshooting and interpretation

  • Manage timelines for study delivery

  • Proactively and clearly communicate within the in vivo team and the broader AZ organization

  • Bring genuinecuriosityfor in vivooncology research

Essential Requirements

  • PhDwith 3+ yrs research experience in academia, biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver impactful dataand effectively lead multiple projects from an in vivo perspective

  • Must have strong hands-on experience (leading from the bench) developing and working with oncology in vivo mouse models including xenografts (subcutaneous and disseminated models)

  • Hands-on experience handling rodents (mice required, rats preferred) and with high proficiencyin oral, intraperitoneal, and intravenous dosingMust be comfortable and highly proficient working with different rodent strains including NSG mice, C57BL6 mice, SRG rats, etc.

  • Ability to deliver in vivo pharmacology data packages for small molecule programs in rodents tumor modelsincluding dose-finding tolerability studies, PK/PD, and efficacy studies.Complexmouse model development experience is highly desirable

  • Experience in using molecular and cellular biology techniques such as immunoblotting platforms, flow cytometry, RT-PCR platforms, and MSDELISA assay development is required

  • Development and validation ofin vivo PD assays such as qPCR, MSD, and ELISA for evaluating analytes of interest from in vivo samples from tumor, tissue, bone marrow, blood and urine samples forbiomarker evaluation.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and listening skillsarerequired

  • Familiarity with software programs including GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Office suite, and in vivo data capture systems AI based strategiesfor in vivo related activities are highly encouraged

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with evidence of delivery in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Must be able to balance time at the bench, in the vivarium and project responsibilities.

Additional experience desired:

  • Prior experience in biotech or pharma

  • Expertise in multiple myeloma, lymphoma, or/and acute myelogenous leukemia biology and/or rodentmodels

  • Hands-on experience using small animal imaging modalities such as bioluminescence imaging (IVIS)

  • Strong publicationtrack record

  • Hands-on experience with spectral flow cytometry

  • Hands-on experience in assay development for complex systems (ex in vivo samples, ex vivo 3D cultures, ex vivo co-culture etc.)

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $116,284.00 - $174,426.00. Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives—an opportunity to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles. Benefits offered include qualified retirement programs, paid time off (i.e., vacation, holiday, and leaves), as well as health, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
