Seeking an accomplished Scientist to spearhead packaging initiatives across the AMA EM region from our India base. This role involves direct collaboration with Commercial and Technical teams, as well as manufacturing facilities, to drive packaging supporting the AMA region. Additional duties encompass digital innovation for product-to-pack development. Occasional regional travel to India, Egypt, and South Africa is anticipated.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • The incumbent will deliver superior packaging by partnering with suppliers, technical organizations (product design, product research R&D, process, engineering), plants, and commercial teams to advance the portfolio. Furthermore, they will ensure that any innovations are fit for purpose and executed as intended through shelf quality assessments.
  • This position is responsible for the timely delivery of regional cost savings, achieved by defining design and technical standards for project execution, targeting zero quality misses.
  • As the singular point of contact for the AMA technical organization regarding packaging, this role will also lead digital innovation for AMA packaging. This entails ensuring digital capability and execution within the region, managing region-specific scopes (e.g., Sopack and Darts), and collaborating with digital teams on data generation and analysis to enhance process improvements and design assumption accuracy.
  • Oversight of the packaging lab, ensuring adherence to lab standards, proper technical equipment, and calibration, is also a key responsibility.
  • The role further encompasses leading the sustainability glidepath for AMA, along with portfolio generation and material development.

Job Qualifications

Role Requirements:

  • Technical Problem Solving & Innovative Critical Thinking: Ability to guide technical project direction, critically analyze complex problems, and enable innovation to create new products, processes, or capabilities through packaging expertise.
  • Strategic Leadership: Skill in developing and leading iterative learning plans, setting clear priorities for technical plans, and integrating diverse approaches like first-principle modeling and resource planning.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence: Capability to build effective relationships, collaborate across disciplines, leverage internal/external resources.
  • Business Acumen & Continuous Learning: Understanding of the business context, basic commercialization aspects, and a commitment to continuous learning on P&G systems, and procedural elements.
  • Technical Documentation: Skill in thoroughly documenting learnings and insights.

Prerequisites:

  • Education: M.Sc or M.Tech from top universities with 6 to 8 years of relevant working experience OR PhD in Science or Engineering from top universities with 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience. Candidates with Packaging educational background will be preferred.
  • Packaging Expertise: In-depth knowledge of materials, packaging engineering, and translating consumer needs into superior packaging experiences,
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot issues and implement systemic fixes.
  • Influencing Skills: Strong leadership and influencing skills across all organizational levels.
  • Collaboration Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and regions.
