Job Description

The Integrated Aviation Solutions (AIS) Division currently has an opening for a Senior SATCOM Field Support Representative (FSR) supporting an Operations, Sustainment and Development program based at a customer facility on Clay Kaserne, Germany. Leidos is the prime contractor on a 10-year single award indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract supporting the United States Army. The senior SATCOM FSR is charged with performing tasks required to design, integrate, test, and maintain satellite communication systems and solutions in support of UAV and ground operation. The SATCOM FSR will collaborate with the Operations Lead and Site Operations Lead to influence solution design, processes and approaches. As requested, the Senior SATCOM FSR will participate in required meetings and interact daily with the Operations Lead, Site Operations Lead, and Government customers to ensure the team is meeting mission and reporting requirement.

The SATCOM FSR position is based at a customer facility on Clay Kaserne, Germany, with travel to Leidos, customer, and subcontractor facilities as required to meet program requirements and goals; normally 10% with surge travel to support integration and testing events.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day SATCOM service delivery, bandwidth allocation, prioritization, and utilization tracking across multiple sites/users.
  • Integrate, troubleshoot, and replace program SATCOM equipment (antennas, modems, amplifiers, switches, etc).
  • Coordinate satellite access, carrier services, teleport/gateway support, and field elements for activation, upgrades, and maintenance windows.
  • Monitor link performance (availability, latency, throughput, packet loss), troubleshoot outages/degradation, and lead restoration actions.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, emitter systems, and adversary capabilities.
  • Manage COMSEC/TRANSEC impacts and collaborate with cybersecurity teams to maintain secure, compliant configurations through strict change control processes.
  • Monitor and maintain system performance using automated tools to provide proactive identification and resolution of issues, ensuring mission readiness and operational efficiency.
  • Support the development of tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) for SATCOM analysis and integration.
  • Liaison with Government customers and outside agencies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support operational and exercise planning by modeling future demand, estimating bandwidth needs, and developing reliable contingency communications.
  • Provide feedback to Operations Lead and Program Management on daily, weekly and monthly activities.
  • All other Mission Integration and support duties as directed by the Operations Lead.
  • Complete all Contractually directed and Leidos corporate training requirements and required certifications.
  • Able to support shift work to meet mission surge operations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must hold a BA/BS degree and 4 years of experience; or master’s degree and 2 years of experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Current DoD Top Secret Clearance with w/CI Poly.
  • Must hold a current, active CompTIA Security+ certification (or equivalent DoD 8577/8140 IAT Level II certification).
  • Utilize SATCOM methodologies to enhance mission effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with SATCOM equipment (modems, antennas, amplifiers, switches) and associated industry standards and familiarity with SATCOM waveform standards (e.g., DVB-S2, MIL-STD-188-165A).
  • Experience in designing and analyzing link budgets and RF propagation models.
  • Experience managing SATCOM services and bandwidth/capacity in operational environments.
  • Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals (routing/switching, QoS, VPNs, WAN concepts) and network performance monitoring.
  • Capable of working autonomously with little or no supervision.
  • Effectively communicate with Leidos and sub-contractor functional leads, managers, and employees.
  • Ability to travel 10% to support meetings and system integration and testing.
  • Able to support shift work to meet mission surge operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent experience supporting US Army SATCOM architectures and operations (e.g., DAMA/TDMA concepts, gateway operations, RF basics).
  • Knowledge of and currently in support of US Army remote piloted Airborne ISR Operations
  • Experience with Power BI, MS Project, Office, PowerPoint, Visio
  • Experience with DoD SATCOM architectures and operations (e.g., DAMA/TDMA concepts, gateway operations, RF basics).
  • Knowledge and experience with Army Airborne ISR Operations
  • Experience with Army and National Intelligence policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with bandwidth management tools/approaches (traffic shaping, prioritization policies, utilization trending).
  • Experience supporting classified environments and working within strict configuration/approval processes.
  • Experience with network monitoring/management platforms and ticketing workflows.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
