The Senior SAP Basis Administrator is responsible for the administration, support, optimization, and continuous improvement of the organization's SAP landscape, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliability of business-critical systems. This role serves as a fully qualified technical professional with comprehensive knowledge of SAP Basis administration, SAP architecture, system operations, database management, and infrastructure platforms.

The incumbent provides advanced technical expertise across SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP NetWeaver ABAP and Java environments, supporting system installations, upgrades, migrations, performance tuning, transport management, troubleshooting, and operational excellence initiatives. The role requires independent evaluation of complex technical issues, application of analytical problem-solving techniques, and recommendation of effective solutions across diverse SAP environments.

The Senior SAP Basis Administrator collaborates closely with SAP functional teams, developers, infrastructure teams, database administrators, security teams, and external partners to resolve system issues, implement enhancements, and support strategic technology initiatives. The role also contributes to SAP transformation projects, including cloud adoption, platform modernization, and S/4HANA programs, while ensuring adherence to security, compliance, and change management standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. SAP Landscape Administration & Support

• Administer, monitor, and maintain SAP environments including SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP NetWeaver ABAP, Java, and related SAP platforms.
• Perform SAP system installations, upgrades, patches, kernel updates, system refreshes, client copies, and migration activities.
• Manage SAP Transport Management System (TMS) and coordinate transport activities across Development, Quality Assurance, and Production environments.
• Support SAP HANA, Oracle, and other supported SAP databases, including monitoring, backup, recovery, restore, and performance optimization activities.
• Conduct proactive system monitoring, health checks, capacity planning, and performance tuning to ensure system stability and availability.

2. Technical Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex SAP Basis-related incidents, including system performance issues, short dumps, background job failures, interface failures, and connectivity problems.
• Evaluate system logs and technical data to identify root causes and develop sustainable corrective actions.
• Assess unusual situations, determine appropriate solutions, and recommend improvements to enhance operational effectiveness.
• Support high-availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity requirements for SAP systems

3. SAP Technology & Infrastructure Support

• Support SAP ecosystem technologies including SAP Solution Manager, SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ), SAP Data Services (BODS), HANA Studio, HANA Cockpit, SAP Cloud ALM, and CTS+.
• Provide Basis support for SAP cloud solutions, including SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP Ariba, Integrated Business Planning (IBP), and other SAP cloud services as applicable.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams supporting Linux, Unix, Windows Server, and cloud-hosted SAP environments.
• Ensure SAP systems comply with security standards, audit requirements, and organizational governance processes

4. Project & Continuous Improvement Activities

• Participate in SAP upgrade, migration, transformation, and system enhancement projects, including ECC-to-S/4HANA initiatives.
• Contribute technical expertise to architecture reviews, system design discussions, and infrastructure planning activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve SAP performance, system reliability, operational efficiency, and support processes.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, standards, and knowledge base materials.

5. Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

• Partner with business, technical, and external stakeholders to resolve complex technical issues and support business priorities.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to less experienced team members and project participants.
• Build effective relationships across IT functions to facilitate efficient issue resolution and project execution.
• Communicate technical concepts and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education –

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Master's Degree in a related field is advantageous.

• Experience –

• Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Minimum 6-8 years of hands-on SAP Basis Administration experience within enterprise environments.
• Experience supporting SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA landscapes.
• Proven experience with SAP system installations, upgrades, migrations, patching, refreshes, and transport management.
• Hands-on experience with SAP HANA database administration and exposure to Oracle database environments.
• Experience supporting high-availability SAP systems and business-critical production environments.
• Experience with SAP cloud technologies and services is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of SAP Basis Administration, SAP Architecture, and SAP System Operations.
• Expertise in SAP NetWeaver ABAP and Java administration.
• Experience with SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP HANA, Oracle Database, and related SAP technologies.
• Proficiency in SAP Transport Management System (TMS), system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with SAP Solution Manager, SAP Cloud ALM, HANA Studio, and HANA Cockpit.
• Experience supporting SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) and SAP Data Services (BODS).
• Working knowledge of Linux, Unix, Windows Server, and cloud-hosted infrastructure environments.
• Understanding of backup, recovery, disaster recovery, security, and compliance requirements within SAP ecosystems.

Working Conditions

• Location: Pune, India
