Senior Sales Specialist – High-Plex Sequencing

Location: Field-Based / Flexible with location.

We have 2 new exciting opportunities, one for the East Coast and one for the West coast.

Applied Biosystems has a long and proud history in DNA sequencing. From laying the backbone with Sanger sequencing to advancing current next-generation sequencing workflows, our brand is built on science and trusted performance. Now, as we accelerate our growth in NGS library preparation and expand our footprint into High-Plex Sequencing, we are looking for a key player to help shape the future of this business with us.

This is not a traditional sales role. As our High-Plex Sequencing Sales Specialist, you will serve as a foundational pillar for our NGS strategy. You will work with us to develop end-to-end workflows, and market strategy, acting as both a technical authority and a growth catalyst across key market segments. If you know the NGS landscape inside and out, understand the nuances of library prep chemistry, and want to help build and guide a high-growth portfolio, this is where you can make a lasting impact.

Requirements:

BS degree required, preferred field of study in the Life Sciences

8 plus years of technical sales experience in life sciences is strongly preferred

How You Will Make an Impact:

• Shape the Strategy & Market Growth: Partner directly with research and clinical customers to expand our High-Plex Sequencing footprint. You will help drive market adoption of our NGS library prep solutions, identifying emerging trends, customer needs, and workflow gaps to influence our commercial approach.
• Serve as the High-Plex Expert: Translate complex chemistry, assays, and sequencing workflows into consultative solutions. Whether guiding a lab through library preparation optimization or presenting at industry conferences, you will be the trusted technical authority for our scientific community and internal partners.
• Drive Strategic Customer Success: Build deep, lasting relationships with key opinion leaders, sequencing core facilities, and commercial accounts. You will manage complex, consultative sales cycles from initial engagement through technical demonstration and final implementation.
• Collaborate Across the Business: Work in close partnership with field application scientists, product management, and regional sales teams in a matrixed environment to ensure seamless customer onboarding, robust pipeline execution, and sustained revenue growth.

What You Bring to the Team:

• Deep NGS Expertise: You have a thorough, hands-on understanding of next-generation sequencing chemistry, high-plex target enrichment, sample prep, and end-to-end library preparation workflows. You know the players, the platforms, and the commercial landscape.
• Proven Commercial Success: You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Genetics, or a related field, combined with at least 5 years of successful technical sales or field application experience in life science research instruments and reagents.
• Consultative Problem Solver: You excel at navigating complex sales cycles, leading technical discussions with principal investigators and lab directors, and tailoring solutions to specific market segments.
• Strategic Vision & Execution: You have a track record of territory planning, market analysis, and cross-functional leadership, with the organizational skill to manage high-touch customer relationships alongside internal strategic initiatives.
• Mobility & Engagement: You are comfortable traveling up to 50 to 75 percent within the assigned territory to meet customers in their labs, present at conferences, and host targeted workflow sessions. Bilingual communication skills are a welcome advantage.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $140,000.00–$180,000.00.
