Job Description

The Moxy & Residence Inn Portland Thompson's Point - opening Summer 2026 - is in search of a Senior Sales Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for generating new business through direct sales and cold calls, and collaborating on strategies to increase occupancy and revenue. The ideal candidate for this role is a highly motivated, energetic, seasoned hospitality sales professional with local market experience.

Something new is taking over Thompson’s Point—and it’s not your typical hotel setup. Moxy Portland is opening as part of a dual-brand with Residence Inn, bringing together bold, social energy and laid-back extended stays under one roof. Surrounded by live music, local breweries, and waterfront views, this is where the action is. New hotel, new team, real opportunity to help shape the vibe from day one.

General Responsibilities:

  • Develop and grow business through direct sales and cold calls.
  • Grow existing accounts and generate new business to exceed budget and maximize revenue and profits.
  • Maintain existing account relationships.
  • Formulate sales and marketing strategies for assigned hotel.
  • Collaborate with Sales Team, Revenue Management, and Hotel General Manager to maximize profitability of properties and capture group business in all segments including corporate transient business while maintain guest satisfaction.
  • Assist in training and support of all Sales Associates and ensure performance in accordance with established Colwen Hotels and brand sales standards.
  • Set sales strategies to achieve overall property goals for both rate and occupancy.
  • Assist in creating and executing annual marketing plan addressing sales strategy and budget goals.
  • Understand hotel operations including room types, meeting capacities, services, features and benefits of assigned properties.
  • Solid knowledge of market conditions and competitors, economic trends, and supply and demand.
  • Conduct proactive solicitation of new business to achieve revenue goals.
  • Meet monthly revenue goals for both room and banquet sales.
  • Achieve personal sales call goals.
  • Target accounts, markets, or segments with proactive solicitation and account saturation.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of all activity/transactions.
  • Participate in local networking organizations, community, and industry events while representing Colwen Hotels in a professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years sales experience
  • Previous hotel experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
  • Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Familiar with common computer software programs, ability to learn new software programs
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work varied hours
