About the role

The Senior Sales Engineer drives the commercial growth of APP Metal Packaging solutions, including can sealants, surface treatment products, cleaners, conversion coatings, lubricants, and related process solutions across the metal packaging industry in Vietnam.

This role combines technical expertise, hands-on customer support, relationship management, and strategic business development to expand market share and build long-term partnerships with metal packaging manufacturers. The position plays a key role in supporting the rapidly growing Southeast Asian metal packaging market, engaging both multinational and Chinese-invested can makers as they expand operations across the region.

The successful candidate will work closely with customers throughout their project lifecycle, from plant setup and line commissioning through product qualification and ongoing production optimization.

What you´ll do

  • Drive commercial growth and market expansion for APP Metal Packaging solutions, including can sealants, cleaners, conversion coatings, lubricants, and related process solutions across Vietnam's metal packaging industry.
  • Develop and strengthen strategic partnerships with can makers, OEMs, and key industry stakeholders, serving as a trusted technical and commercial advisor.
  • Identify, engage, and convert new business opportunities while expanding market share within both multinational and rapidly growing Chinese-invested manufacturers across Southeast Asia.
  • Partner closely with customers throughout their project lifecycle, from plant setup and line commissioning to product qualification, process optimization, and ongoing production support.
  • Provide hands-on technical application expertise, troubleshooting, and operational support for sealant and surface treatment technologies used in aluminium and steel can manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, procurement, and leadership teams to deliver tailored solutions that enhance manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and operational performance.
  • Monitor market developments, customer expansion plans, and industry trends to proactively position APP solutions and support long-term business growth.
  • Leverage a consultative sales approach by combining technical knowledge, relationship management, and strategic business development to create sustainable value for customers and the organization.

1. Business Development & Growth

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities with metal packaging manufacturers of the assigned territory/customers and related supply chain partner
  • Develop and execute country‑specific growth plans for the assign customers
  • Drive product trials, line qualifications, and conversions to capture the opportunity and business maintenance by providing technical service and commercial solutions.
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends to refine strategy and positioning.

2. Account Management

  • Manage and grow key accounts through regular visits, performance reviews, and proactive support.
  • Build strong relationships with all plant stakeholders i.e General Manager, plant managers, production teams, procurement, and technical decision‑makers.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through timely communication, issue resolution, and value‑added service.

3. Technical & Process Support

  • Work closely with technical service teams to support product trials, troubleshooting, and optimization of can‑making processes (washer lines, pretreatment, lubrication, etc.).
  • Translate customer needs into actionable product or service solutions.Provide on‑site troubleshooting and process audits and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost savings.

4. Forecasting & Reporting

  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and market intelligence reports.
  • Track performance against targets and propose corrective actions when needed.
  • Maintain CRM records and ensure data accuracy.

5. Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with R&D, supply chain, marketing, and regional leadership to deliver seamless customer experience.
  • Support regional product launches, trial, seminars, and customer training sessions.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field is preferred.
  • 3–7 years of experience in production of Aluminium Cans, B2B industrial sales of: Surface treatment chemicals
  • Strong understanding of aluminium and steel can make processes (washing, pretreatment, lubrication, sealant).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to manage complex accounts and long sales cycles.ss multiple countries.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within Vietnam and other SEA countries if required.
  • Willingness to stay at customers plant when required
  • Proficiency in Mandarin and English (spoken and written) to manage growing engagement with customers in SEA
  • Ability to navigate multicultural environments and build trust with regional and cross‑border stakeholders.
