Your Opportunity

Queensland Rail has an exciting opportunity for a driven individual with a strong interest and knowledge on safety in the workplace to join our SEQ Safety Risk & Assurance team as a Senior Safety Facilitator on a temporary fulltime basis until 30th August 2027.

As a Senior Safety Facilitator, you will be a Subject Matter Expert on Workplace Health & Safety policies offering support and consultation to the business to ensure compliance standards are upheld.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend site inspections, facilitate the implementation of new processes, and provide coaching and mentoring to leaders.
  • Facilitate the anticipation, identification, evaluation and control of WHS hazards and risks through involvement in planning, risk assessments, accident investigations, consultative arrangements and overseeing the process incident and hazard reporting.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of WHS hazards and risks registers and ongoing safety improvement programs.
  • Consultatively facilitate the development of issue specific and systemic treatment strategies and programs for the management of WHS risks.
  • Conducting analysis, process review, audits, inspections, and task observations and communicate findings and recommendations to management and staff.
  • Facilitate the management of change on HSE strategies and issues by providing advocacy and supporting the flow of information.

Roster Information:

Whilst this role is Monday to Friday, on occasion you will be required to work a rostered weekend. Weekend work is planned well in advance, and you will be compensated at penalty rates or day in lieu.

About you:

We are looking for a team-oriented, positive, and practical self-starter who is passionate about safety. If you are someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to take ownership of safety, we encourage you to apply. More about you:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and written and oral communication skills to liaise effectively across a broad range of stakeholders.
  • WHS qualification is desirable.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Excellent skills in investigation, analysis, problem solving and attention to detail.
  • Substantial level of knowledge of WHS Act.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment, sharing knowledge and supporting others in the achievement of team goals.
