We are now seeking a Senior Safety Advisor to work on Melbourne’s big build Northeast Link joining our highly talented Major Projects team.


About the role

Working closely with the Senior Project Manager and Safety Manager, your role will be to provide advice, assistance, guidance and support to line Management on all safety, health, and environmental issues relating to the site

Key responsibilities

  • Undertake all responsibilities in a safe manner.

  • Ensure a safe working condition is present for all employees, contractors and visitors.

  • Participate in daily pre-start meetings.

  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems such as job safety analysis, pre-work checklists and risk assessments.

  • Comply and have input into safe working procedures.

  • Report hazards, incidents and accidents within company guidelines.

  • Assist with safety sections for reports, tenders and proposals.

  • Actively participate in safety training.

  • Adopt UGL Core Values of Safety, Integrity, Outstanding Customer Service, Honest and Openness in Communication and teamwork.

  • Monitors workplace behaviours and compliance

  • Actively implement, review and improve the HSSE management system

  • Integrate client and UGL HSSE systems as required.

  • Provide advice and coaching to Project Managers, Supervisors, and Construction Managers on project specific HSSE reporting & Analysis for client and management needs.

  • Monitor and interpret relevant HSSE legislation, policies and regulations to provide direction and advice to projects which meet statutory and corporate objectives and responsibilities

  • Inspecting and Auditing project compliance to HSSE system requirements where required.

  • Assist in managing the implementation of return-to-work programs and procedures to ensure that all injuries are managed according to Company and Legislative requirements.

  • Provide safety statistics on a monthly basis for inclusion in monthly reports.

  • Investigate worksite incidents and occurrences in accordance with the UGL Engineering HSSE requirements and reporting matrix to manage corrective actions ensuring that identified incidents are addressed efficiently and effectively to ensure that Company and Legislative reporting protocols are maintained.

About You

  • Advisor or Senior Advisor level HSE experience in a similar role for a Tier 1 Contractor is essential to your success in this role

  • Certificate IV in OHS

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

  • Current drivers’ license

  • Construction Induction White Card
