Senior Safe Agile Coach / Advanced SAFe Practice Consultant (ASPC)

We are seeking a Senior SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) Agile Coach / Advanced SAFe Practice Consultant (ASPC) to lead the sustainment of a large-scale, multi-ART (Agile Release Train) software program, and teach SAFe courses. This role is responsible for the synchronization of three active Agile Release Trains, ensuring they operate with high predictability, quality, and alignment with customer mission objectives. The selected candidate will partner with Program and Customer Management, Solution Train Engineers (STEs), Release Train Engineers (RTEs), Release Managers, Scrum Masters, and Technical and Non-technical Leads to optimize the flow of value across the entire solution. Impeccable attention to detail and focus on task completion is imperative.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Multi-ART Synchronization: Orchestrate the coordination of three ARTs, managing complex inter-train dependencies and ensuring consistent application of SAFe principles across the program.
  • PI Planning Leadership: Facilitate and continuously improve PI Planning events across multiple ARTs. Ensure alignment of: Vision, Backlogs, Dependencies, and PI Objectives. Coach stakeholders on effective pre- and post-PI processes (backlog readiness, inspect & adapt).
  • Lead the strategy and execution of large-scale Program Increment (PI) Planning events, aligning all team members toward a unified vision and set of PI objectives.
  • Safe Training and Enablement: Deliver and support SAFe training (e.g., Leading SAFe, SAFe for Teams, PO/PM) to leaders and teams, enable certification readiness, and reinforce SAFe principles through ongoing coaching.
  • Stakeholder Mentorship: Educate company, program, and customer leads and team members on how to map SAFe milestones to program requirements.
  • Sustainment & DevSecOps Strategy: Guide the integration of automated testing and DevSecOps into long-term sustainment workflows to reduce technical debt throughout systems.
  • Agile Center of Excellence: Lead a Lean-Agile Center of Excellence (LACE) to drive organizational maturity, conduct Maturity Assessments, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Metrics, Flow, and Continuous Improvement: Implement and coach SAFe flow metrics, including Flow Velocity, Flow Time, Predictability, and Quality.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least 12 years of relevant work experience. Additional relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Advanced SAFe Practice Consultant (ASPC) certification required.
  • At least 5 years of Full Time work experience as an STE, RTE, or Release Manager on a large-scale technical program; or at least 10 years of Full Time work experience as a Scrum Master in software delivery.
  • At least 3 years of experience in multi-ART / Solution Train environments.
  • Recent experience teaching SAFe courses and enabling certification.
  • Demonstrated experience applying SAFe as the agile development methodology on a large-scale technical program.
  • Experience with large, complex systems (software + hardware integration).
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary technical development teams.
  • Experience affecting change in organizations working towards agile adoption.
  • Experience briefing leadership/customers on key status and project progression.
  • Experience communicating with and briefing status to external stakeholders, including customer/government representatives.
  • Proficiency with Agile tools (e.g. Jira, VersionOne, Rally, IBM ELM, etc.).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment across diverse systems and groups.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to manage time extremely well and quickly sense when an issue needs to be addressed or triaged.
  • Clearance Required: Must have TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Full Time Agile Coaching experience on a large, technical software program.
  • Significant technology experience in software development, test, or systems engineering such that a candidate could qualify on the program as a participant software, test, or systems engineer.
  • Experience in the software development lifecycle - as a developer, tester, analyst, product manager, etc.
  • Experience applying test automation, test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous deployment to achieve built-in quality.
  • Experience using Kanban as a means to improve flow on support teams.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $116,350.00 - $210,325.00
