Since 2016, Wallarm has been on a mission to secure the internet's critical infrastructure: APIs. Today, we are the trusted choice for over 200 of the world's most innovative companies, from high-growth startups to Fortune 500 and Nasdaq leaders. Our unified platform provides full-lifecycle API security — helping teams discover their attack surface, protect against modern threats, and respond to incidents in real-time. As a graduate of Y Combinator and fueled by a recent $55M Series C, we are scaling our global, remote-first team of 180+ innovators to solve the next generation of security challenges.
We’re launching an internal startup: a high-performing AI/API Management Platform on Rust We’re looking for a founding engineer who will work directly with the founder and product owner to build the first production-ready version of the product.
The key point: we already have our first customer The near-term goal is to deliver the first production-ready version and successfully roll it out to the client. After that, we’ll spin this into a standalone product with a dedicated team — and you’d have a real path to leading that team
In 2026 we want to build the best AI/API gateway for the enterprise segment while entering the mid-market and appear in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for API Management as a Visionary.
Own End-to-End Application Development: Take full, end-to-end responsibility for designing, developing, and deploying the new high-performing API Management Platform in Rust, ensuring it is robust and scalable from its first line of code to production.
Establish Production Readiness: Implement and manage the CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure required to move the application to a production-ready state, utilizing our cloud-native environment (Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform).
Ensure Operational Excellence: Develop deep observability and monitoring, and take primary ownership of troubleshooting and resolving production issues to maintain peak performance and reliability for our initial customer and beyond.
Drive Team Growth and Culture: Serve as a founding engineer, contributing to architectural decisions, conducting thoughtful code reviews, and laying the groundwork to eventually lead the dedicated product team.
Strong Rust experience (systems, performance, reliability).
A Strong Backend Generalist: You bring 5+ years of overall software development experience with a deep understanding of backend systems, architecture, and design patterns.
A founder mindset and comfort operating in “startup mode”.
Champion in using Claude Code and other AI tools to accelerate development/testing (not just experimentation).
DevOps knowledge (Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, CI/CD).
Experience with Scale: You have proven experience working on high-load, distributed systems where performance and reliability are critical.
A Collaborative Team Player: You thrive in a remote-first environment and communicate clearly and effectively.
Mission That Matters: Your code will directly protect the world's leading companies—from Fortune 500s to innovative startups—making the internet a safer place.
Remote-First & Asynchronous Culture: Join a globally distributed team across 20+ countries where we trust you to deliver. We prioritize asynchronous communication and offer genuine schedule flexibility, allowing you to work when and where you are most productive.
Engineering Challenges: Tackle complex problems at a massive scale. You'll be architecting solutions at the cutting edge of API security, distributed systems, and high-load data processing.
Comprehensive Benefits: We offer a wide range of benefits to cover your expenses, provide unlimited paid time off, and supply high-quality equipment necessary for your success.

APIs – the driving force behind AI-based innovation, modern applications, and cloud infrastructure – are the #1 attack vector for cybercriminals.
Existing tools don’t have API security controls, and many API security solutions are simply observability tools that can’t prevent attacks without complex and unreliable deployments and significant human investment.
Wallarm is the API security platform that is the fastest, easiest, and most effective way to stop API attacks. Customers choose Wallarm to protect their applications and AI agents because the platform delivers a complete inventory of APIs, patented AI/ML-based abuse detection, real-time blocking, and an API SOC-as-a-service. Unlike other API security solutions that create alerts for all suspicious behavior, Wallarm’s technology and teams are aligned to fix your API security problems – not just find them. Wallarm is easily deployed inline to block attacks and our expert API SOC team gives you peace of mind 24/7/365.
