At Zanskar, we’re using better technologyto find and develop new geothermal resources in order to make geothermal a cost-effective andvital contributor to a carbon-free energy future. We are revolutionizing the exploration process,setting new industry standards for discovery rates and finding new prospects at an unprecedentedscale. The growing development team at Zanskar is advancing a multi-gigawatt portfolio of firm,carbon-free energy projects, and needs a Head of Permitting to lead all key permitting efforts inorder to bring our projects online.
Outcomes - Problems you’ll solveWe need a ROW Agent to participate in all aspects of securing site control for greenfield prospecting,exploration and development work, with an immediate emphasis on right-of-way for transmissionlines. The ROW Agent is expected to work as an expert in negotiating with landowners to acquireaccess for field operations and exploration teams. The ROW Agent will collaborate with the crossdiscipline teams within the company and throughout the negotiation process to ensure thecompany pays market prices and the right lands are acquired on a timely basis. The ROW Agent willalso help the company initiate mutually beneficial relationships with all our landowners andpartners. Success will be when you have secured access to certain prospects in a timely fashion,within budget and with all land and regulatory partners in agreement.
Competencies – What we’re looking forROW negotiation experience: Successful candidates must have five years of land workexperience at either an oil and gas, minerals, utilities or renewable energy company, with anemphasis on negotiating transmission or pipeline right-of-way. They must have proven experiencenegotiating land deals with private landowners for resource exploration, development, and/oroperation phases. Experience in land work for both public and private lands.
● Self-starter● Excellent time management and travel planning skills● Proven negotiation experience● Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills● Resilience being in remote locations on your own● Familiarity of federal and public land processes in the Rockies region is helpful● Willing to travel up to 50% of the time to remote areas
Understanding of Chain of Title, Surface Rights: Must have experience working with chainsof title, ownership reports, legal and lease agreements and other ownership or regulatorydocuments.
Relationship Builder: Must have a track record of building key relationships with privatelandowners, where reputation, particularly honest dealings and face to face engagement, is critical.
Requirements5 + years of right of way or applicable land work (required): work can include land/ right-of-way acquisition, title research, due diligence, land valuation, contract negotiations, project supportand/or community engagement. Membership in the American Association of Professional Landmen(AAPL) or International Right of Way Association (IRWA).
Land Certifications (preferred): ; Right of Way Agent (RWA) equivalent or higher.; RegisteredLandman (RL) equivalent or higher also considered.
Bachelor’s degree (preferred): A Bachelor'ss degree in Real Estate, Land Management, or arelated field is not required, but is a plus.
