Your role

As Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer, you'll guide purposeful work that supports the future of the Energy & Resources Business. Collaborating with a diverse, multidisciplinary team, you’ll explore integrated solutions, offer thoughtful perspectives, and partner with clients to help them build a more sustainable world.

What you’ll be doing

This role is based in Brisbane, managing the delivery and optimisation of rotating equipment across upstream oil & gas and energy infrastructure projects. You will provide specialist technical expertise and advice to projects and professional teams to ensure successful delivery within time, quality, cost, and stakeholder expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical assessments, audits, and surveillance of rotating equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and contract compliance.
  • Provide expert advice on design, procurement, operation, maintenance, and optimisation of rotating machinery including compressors, turbines, pumps, and generators.
  • Manage and mentor multidisciplinary teams, including graduate engineers and technical staff.
  • Support brownfield expansions, debottlenecking, and digital twin deployments to enhance asset performance.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, OEMs, and internal teams to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee condition monitoring, vibration analysis, and root cause failure investigations.
  • Contribute to project risk assessments, HAZOPs, and technical decision-making forums.
  • Develop and review technical documentation, maintenance strategies, and operational procedures.

What you’ll bring

You blend deep technical knowledge with strategic thinking and collaborative leadership. You thrive in dynamic environments, build meaningful connections, and are motivated by purposeful work.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in rotating equipment engineering.
  • Proven expertise in gas compression, turbines, pumps, and power generation equipment within upstream oil & gas or energy sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in brownfield project delivery, including expansions, upgrades, and operational optimisation.
  • Strong experience with condition monitoring systems, vibration analysis, and digital twin technologies.
  • Advanced skills in data analytics, AI, and machine learning applications for asset optimisation.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to technical and commercial decision-makers.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., Mechanical Engineering degree) and professional registration (e.g., RPEQ, Chartered Engineer).

Desirable:

  • 10 years in a subject matter expert or technical authority role.
  • Experience with decarbonisation technologies, or energy transition projects.
  • Familiarity with contract management, LTSA agreements, and techno-commercial negotiations.
