Job Description

We at Yara are part of a global network, collaborating to profitably and responsibly solve some of the world's key challenges - resource scarcity, food insecurity and environmental change.

About the Unit

Yara Technology, Projects & Operational Excellence (YTP) is a global enabler of Yara’s strategy, delivering innovation, project execution, digital business partnering, operational- and procurement excellence to support Yara Global Production's (YGP) development towards a nature-positive food future.

YTP is structured around five departments: Technology, Projects, Operational Excellence, Technical Procurement and Digital Business Partnering, which cover the full YGP scope. Together, these departments drive the development of modern technologies, execute complex technical projects, and embed continuous improvement and harmonized practices across Yara’s Production system. We collaborate closely with internal and external partners to ensure safe, efficient and sustainable solutions that create value for Yara and society.

The responsibility for execution of compex, large-scale technical projects lies with the Projects department. They enhance Yara’s global production capabilities and its impact on sustainability. The Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer will report to the Competence Lead Rotating Equipment in the Engineering subdepartment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed technical specifications and datasheets for all rotating equipment in alignment with project and industry standards.
  • Participate in the RFQ process, including the preparation, review, and clarification of technical requirements, and contribute to selecting the best overall technical proposal.
  • Review and approve vendor and contractor documentation (e.g., datasheets, GA drawings, P&IDs, performance curves) to ensure full compliance with project specifications and requirements.
  • Lead multidisciplinary document reviews, coordinate with relevant engineering disciplines, consolidate comments, and ensure all valid feedback is incorporated or properly communicated to vendors.
  • Identify and propose improvements to existing engineering standards, templates, and technical documentation based on lessons learned and project experience.
  • Participate in HAZOPs and other safety‑critical reviews, including 3D model reviews, operability assessments, and maintainability evaluations.
  • Witness inspections and testing of rotating equipment at vendor facilities, verifying compliance with specifications and performance guarantees.
  • Potential to develop further into Operational Excellence in supporting production sites related to turnaround preparations, executions, involvement in equipment failures and conducting and supporting Root Cause Analyses (RCA’s).

Profile

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with more than 5 years of relevant experience in rotating equipment within project environments or production sites.
  • Strong knowledge of international standards commonly used in the petrochemical industry (e.g., API, ISO, HI, PTC).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong analytical and complex problem‑solving skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead complex projects as Rotating Equipment Lead within the (petro)chemical industry.
  • Experience in construction, mechanical completion, and commissioning phases of the projects is considered an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel internationally based on project needs.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.
