Our client is seeking a Credit Risk Analytics Manager to join its Risk Management team in Malta. Reporting directly to the Risk Manager, this second line of defence role is responsible for providing independent oversight of the Bank's credit risk profile through data-driven analysis, portfolio monitoring and risk reporting.
The successful candidate will play a key role in validating credit risk information, identifying emerging portfolio trends, and providing independent insights and challenge to support Senior Management, Board Committees and the Board in making informed risk decisions.
Provide independent second line oversight of the Bank's credit risk profile, ensuring exposures remain within approved risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
Monitor and analyse credit portfolio performance, identifying trends, concentrations and emerging credit risks.
Validate and reconcile credit risk data from multiple sources, including arrears, defaults, recoveries, utilisation, delinquency trends and portfolio analytics.
Review and challenge first line credit risk reporting to ensure accuracy, completeness and suitability for management decision-making.
Validate regulatory and internal credit risk reporting, including default classifications, IFRS 9 assumptions, impairment, provisioning, forbearance and Significant Increase in Credit Risk (SICR).
Investigate portfolio vulnerabilities, control weaknesses, adverse trends and data quality issues, escalating material findings where appropriate.
Develop and enhance credit risk dashboards, reporting tools and management information to support effective oversight.
Track remediation actions arising from portfolio reviews, risk assessments and second line challenge.
Support thematic reviews, control testing, stress testing, ICAAP, Recovery Planning and Risk Appetite monitoring activities.
Contribute to the continuous enhancement of the Bank's credit risk framework and analytical capabilities.
Tertiary qualification in Banking & Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Risk Management or another quantitative discipline.
3–5 years' experience in credit risk management, portfolio analytics, data analytics or a similar analytical role within retail lending or banking.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with experience interpreting credit portfolio performance and translating complex data into meaningful management insights.
Experience using analytical and reporting tools such as SQL, SAS, Python, Power BI or Tableau
Good understanding of credit risk concepts including PD, LGD, EAD, NPLs, IFRS 9, loan staging, impairment provisioning and forbearance
Experience reviewing or challenging credit risk strategies, lending models or first line reporting from a second line perspective is highly desirable.
Working knowledge of CRR/CRD, EBA Guidelines and IFRS 9
Experience with credit card or unsecured retail lending portfolios will be considered an advantage.
