Job Description

At AustralianSuper, we truly care about our colleagues. We know work and life are intertwined, which is why we support the diverse needs of everyone and provide flexibility to help you thrive.

As one of Australia’s largest superannuation funds, we’re focused on delivering strong outcomes for our members. A strong risk culture underpins everything we do, and our Governance & Enablement team plays a critical role in supporting sustainable growth, resilience and regulatory confidence.

Your New Role

In this 9-month contract, you’ll partner with business units across the Finance Domain to enable effective management of their business risk frameworks in line with the Fund’s overall Risk Management Framework.

You’ll act as a trusted advisor, embedding risk practices into day‑to‑day operations, supporting informed decision‑making and ensuring business risks, controls and obligations are clearly understood, monitored and reported.

Key duties include but are not limited to;

  • Partnering with designated business units to provide end‑to‑end business risk and control support.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the risk and control environment, keeping management informed of key issues and trends.
  • Supporting the identification, assessment and documentation of risks and controls within the GRC system, including incidents, control self‑assessments and action tracking.
  • Facilitating root cause analysis of incidents and issues, identifying control weaknesses and improvement opportunities.
  • Conducting control design and effectiveness testing as part of the control review program and following up on remediation actions.
  • Supporting the implementation of the Fund’s Risk Management Framework, including risk appetite assessments and key risk indicators.
  • Developing clear risk reporting and dashboards for senior management, governance forums and committees.
  • Engaging with internal and external auditors and supporting the timely remediation of audit findings.

What You’ll Need

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in commerce, finance or a related discipline, with industry qualifications or accreditations considered beneficial.
  • Experience in operational risk, internal or external audit, or risk and control roles within a large financial services organisation.
  • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and first, second or third line risk practices.
  • Exposure to risk and control identification, testing methodologies and incident management.
  • Highly developed analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • A collaborative, proactive approach and the ability to manage competing priorities in a changing environment.
  • Experience with Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) systems will be highly regarded.
