TWA Hotel
The Gift Shop Senior Attendant will be responsible for providing a positive guest experience by executing flawless service to all guests of the gift shop. The position serves as the lead team member on shift, supporting the Captain (Manager)with daily operations and acting as the manager-on-duty in their absence. The ideal candidate for this role has great communication skills with a positive demeanor and the ability to multi-task and work well with others.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Greet customers when they enter the shop, offer assistance in locating merchandise, and respond to questions regarding merchandise.
• Display merchandise in a neat, eye-appealing manner.
• Restock items as necessary, check expiration dates, and discard expired items.
• Keep storeroom neat and clean.
• Complete customer purchases, process all payment types, and process returns, refunds, and exchanges. Verify customer identification as required.
• Maintain appropriate cash levels in cash drawer, turn in all property monies and receipts, and ensure deposits/cash drops are verified.
• Follow checklist for opening and closing shop.
• Secure shop and monitor customer activity to prevent losses due to merchandise theft and damage.
• Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to captain (manager).
• Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
• Anticipate and address guests' service needs; assist individuals with disabilities; thank guests with genuine appreciation.
• Speak with others using clear and professional language; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
• Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.
• Reach, bend, twist, pull, and stoop; move, lift, or carry objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds; stand, sit, or walk for an extended period.
• Oversee daily floor operations, ensuring the shop runs smoothly and service standards are consistently met throughout the shift.
• Assist with daily management of gift shop team, including assigning tasks, providing direction and support and addressing day-to-day employee questions or issues as they arise.
• Support the creation and adjustment of staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage based on the demands of the hotel.
• Serve as the acting point of contact during the Captain (Manager)'s scheduled days off and vacation.
• Help train and onboard new gift shop team members and model best practices in guest service and shop operations.
• Additional duties as assigned by Captain (Manager).
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent
• At least 2 years of related work experience; key-holder or supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous customer service experience preferred.
• Excellent administrative, interpersonal, organization, written and verbal communication skills
• Organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
• An aptitude for self-motivation
• A can-do attitude and a hands-on approach
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and support a small team, and to make sound operational decisions independently when needed.
