
Senior Research Technician – Sensory and Consumer Science

The scientist in this role is responsible for executing the sensory and consumer experiments to develop an understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of mouthfeel perception. Collaborating with a cross-functional team, the scientist will work with a sensory panel to describe and quantify the qualities and temporal profiles of a variety of ingredients such as fats and sweeteners. The scientist will also work with a large consumer panel to investigate how individual differences in anatomy and demographics contribute to differences in product preferences. Specific responsibilities include recruiting, helping to train, and maintaining both a sensory panel and a consumer panel, programming sensory software for test execution, preparing samples, executing sensory and psychophysical tests following specified protocols, measuring people’s anatomical differences, and communicating results to the project team.
Skills and Experience Required:
The ideal candidate would have:
§A degree with a focus on psychophysics or sensory science.
§Experience in sensory science execution and analysis including applied psychophysical techniques, discrimination testing such as ranking, descriptive analysis, napping and sorting.
