A leading nonprofit healthcare organization serving Middle Tennessee is seeking an experienced research professional to oversee a large-scale, patient-centered research initiative focused on improving health outcomes across communities in the Southern United States.

This position offers the opportunity to lead complex research efforts that bring together healthcare providers, community stakeholders, researchers, and patient advocates to address critical public health challenges and advance evidence-based care.

The Senior Research Program Manager will provide leadership for a multi-site research initiative, ensuring successful project execution from planning through dissemination. This individual will oversee operational strategy, research compliance, stakeholder engagement, data integrity, and team coordination while supporting the achievement of project objectives and funding requirements.

The ideal candidate combines strong scientific expertise with exceptional leadership, project management, and collaboration skills.

Primary ResponsibilitiesStrategic Research Management

  • Direct day-to-day operations of a large research program
  • Develop implementation plans, timelines, and performance benchmarks
  • Monitor project progress and ensure achievement of key objectives
  • Identify risks and develop solutions to maintain project success

Team Leadership & Development

  • Guide and support research coordinators, analysts, and project staff
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and mission-driven work environment
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities
  • Coordinate responsibilities across multidisciplinary teams

Community Partnerships & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Build relationships with healthcare systems, advocacy organizations, and community partners
  • Facilitate engagement activities that incorporate patient perspectives into research efforts
  • Support initiatives designed to strengthen community participation and trust
  • Serve as a liaison among internal and external stakeholders

Research Operations & Data Quality

  • Oversee research methodologies, data collection processes, and analytical activities
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established protocols
  • Promote high standards of scientific rigor and ethical conduct
  • Support continuous quality improvement efforts throughout the project lifecycle

Regulatory Compliance & Grant Administration

  • Monitor compliance with sponsor requirements, institutional policies, and regulatory guidelines
  • Assist with budget oversight and resource allocation
  • Support reporting activities and documentation requirements
  • Coordinate with regulatory and compliance teams as needed

Research Communication & Knowledge Sharing

  • Lead preparation of research summaries, presentations, and publications
  • Support dissemination of findings to academic, clinical, community, and public audiences
  • Translate complex research outcomes into meaningful, accessible information

Preferred Qualifications

Successful candidates will typically possess:

  • Doctoral degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Services Research, or a closely related discipline
  • Extensive experience leading healthcare research projects or multi-site studies
  • Strong project management and organizational leadership skills
  • Experience working with federally funded or large-scale grant-supported research programs
  • Knowledge of patient-centered research methodologies
  • Proficiency with statistical and analytical software such as SAS, R, SPSS, or similar platforms
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
  • Commitment to ethical research practices and community engagement
