Job Description

At Bristol Myers Squibb, our employees often ask, “Who are you working for?”—a question that fuels collaboration, accountability, and urgency in our work. Our purpose-driven culture inspires us to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines to prevail over serious diseases. We offer uniquely interesting and meaningful work, opportunities for growth, and a supportive environment that values inclusion, wellbeing, flexibility, and comprehensive benefits. Position Summary

The Senior Pharmacometrician will be responsible for the development and implementation of the model-informed drug development (MIDD) plan for drugs and other therapeutic agents in clinical development, in partnership with Clinical Pharmacology (CP) and other quantitative functions for the asset.

MIDD complements conventional drug development by integrating diverse data through PMx models to inform development decisions and regulatory assessments. MBMA adds a quantitative view of competitors and comparators. MIDD informs dose and regimen selection and clinical study hypotheses, while complementing clinical data to support regulatory assessment of clinical pharmacology and benefit-risk. PMx analyses can also inform approval decisions and, in some cases, serve as the primary basis for approval.

Model-based integration of data to generate insights, bridge data-gaps, inform and drive drug development decisions, and support health authority interactions. Pharmacometrics (PMx) applications including population pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, exposure-response, disease progression, and model-based meta-analyses (MBMA). Understanding of modern PMx approaches such as mechanistic modeling (QSP and PBPK), scientific machine learning and agentic workflows are a significant bonus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partners with Clinical Pharmacology (CP) lead to specify MIDD components of PMx plan, with some supervision
  • Works closely with other quantitative disciplines to formulate and execute on a coherent modeling and data plan
  • Responsible for planning, executing, and reporting of formal PMx analyses included in CSRs, HA submissions, and responses to questions from HAs, with some supervision
  • Serves as MIDD SME, to work closely with CP lead and other quantitative functions in the development of therapeutic agents, with some supervision
  • Contributes to maintenance and refinement of PMx infrastructure, with some supervision
  • Contributes to PMx and cross-functional initiatives
  • Manages PMx analyses performed by vendors, with some supervision
  • Participates in interactions with health authorities as MIDD SME, with some supervision
  • Collaborates with internal and external SMEs to develop and enhance MIDD methodology and capability, with some supervision

  • Basic quantitative data analysis, data wrangling (merging and transforming data), visualization, advanced PPK and E-R
  • Programming: R, NONMEM, Monolix, Pumas, Matlab, Python, Julia
  • General knowledge of drug development process
  • Knowledge of mechanistic modeling is desired
  • Knowledge of current practices and issues in PMx and CP
  • Strong written and oral communication skills necessary to report on and deliver scientific presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic team-oriented environment
  • Local and international travel for conferences and regulatory meetings may be required depending on project needs, up to 5-10% of the time
